Merge

[edit]

I've added the {{merge|2013 Bangladesh riot}} template to the article → the article 2013 Bangladesh riot deals with the same topic ... there seems to be a lot of POV editing among Bangladeshi editors, can we work on a neutral description of the current situation, please? --Vejvančický (talk / contribs) 11:42, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2013 Bangladesh Anti-Hindu violence can't be an appropriate title since the attack on the Hindu community is not the only issue here rather a part of the greater topic, title like 2013 Bangladesh riot or 2013 Bangladesh violence would be fine, it would include the attacks on the Hindu community as well as other violences committed by Jamaat-Shibir and more importantly the clashes between Police and Jamaat-Shibir where the international media has put the highest emphasize. --Zayeem (talk) 15:34, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The attacks on the Hindus have taken place in protest against the death sentence on a person who has been sentenced because of taking part in genocide of the Hindus in 1971. This adds a very different dimension to the incidents that are taking place. The international media have reported the attacks and the U.S. Department of State has expressed concerns over the attacks on Hindus. Therefore, the incidents have gathered enough notability to be documented in a separate article. There is no need to merge. BengaliHindu (talk) 17:20, 6 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2013 Bangladesh Anti-Hindu Violence can not be merged with 2013 Bangladesh riots because 2013 bangladesh riots is political problems occured in bangladesh while 2013 Anti-Hindu riots are releated with the human rights of minorities in bangladesh. Thus, It shows overall situations of hindu and other minorities in bangladesh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.237.45.105 (talk) 14:27, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think they can be merged in that they were both in reaction to the trials and sentences of Delwar Hossain Sayeedi and Abdul Quader Molla and they occured at the same time. Furthermore, I would say the same about the 2013 Shahbag protests as they were also reaction to the sentences and they also occured at the same time. These are interconnected incidents that have the same roots and they sould all be merged. Charles Essie (talk) 20:14, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think mention of religion in article title is against NPOV of Wikipedia. I prefer it to be called as just 2013 Bangladesh Violence, but the article content can just elaborate on what happened there exactly. - Vatsan34 (talk) 15:04, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ohh, the mere mention of the persecuted religion does not mean that it is a POV article. There are enough sources to ascertain that this deserves a separate article. Shovon (talk) 16:37, 10 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Care about Non-english sources

[edit]

This article is mostly sourced with non-English (i.e. Bengli) newspapers. These are not arranged in WP:NOENG way. So any vandal (I've faced few of them) can bring the excuse of WP:NOENG here. As a Bangladeshi, I know these similar informations are also available in english newspapers. Just googling these news headlins in english will bring them all. 2013 Shahbag protests has a huge collection of english news sources related to this issue. If anyone need help, I can help him by searching Bangladeshi English newspaper archive. Anyone interested?--FreemesM (talk) 15:56, 8 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. References should be provided from English language media as much as possible. BengaliHindu (talk) 15:45, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Many of the links used are dead, or do not point to the article they were meant to point to. These should be marked and removed or replaced.142.20.149.57 (talk) 01:23, 1 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The article is total fake news to Malign Bangladesh's image

[edit]

The article is filled with broken links and BJP propaganda links. Nothing is said about this or similar reports:

> In many such incidents there are proofs of government’s involvement. Three members of Chattra League [student wing of the Awami League] have been arrested while trying to attack for the second time the residence of judge of the ICT in Senbagh, Noakhali. In another incident, an activist of Awami League has been arrested red handed after burning some Hindu properties with arson attack in Debhata, Satkhira district. He was handed over to the police. Local journalists have said that, the police tried to change his identity to a ‘BNP activist’.

The article is portrayed as if Hindus were targeted because of their religion which is not true. It was both Islamists and government attacking each other and hindus got in the middle like other people. Muslims also got attacked for trying to vote. Those who tried to vote got attacked not because of religion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SakibArifin (talkcontribs) 18:27, 17 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
