Regional Tournaments
[edit]Hello all
I think everyone has done fairly well in developing these new ICC World Cricket League articles as the league has evolved. But I wonder if it is worth removing the majority of the regional tournament info from these articles? Each regional tournament has its own structure, own timetabling etc which does not fit in all that smoothly with the World Cricket League.
My approach would be to create a section linking to the various regional league articles, with indications as to where teams have qualified for the World Cricket League. Thoughts? --Pretty Green (talk) 08:12, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've actually raised this issue before in the past. The decision that was made, which I think is probably best, is to leave the regional tournament info in. This is because they play a part in determining who qualifies for Division Eight every two years. Only the latest playing of each regional tournament is included so it doesn't take up too much space. They are also loosely a part of the overall World Cricket League as they act as feeder divisions.
- There may be a possibility of minimising the information on this page by including only a list of those teams which qualified for this cycle of the World Cricket League, the regional tournament which allowed them to do so and a link to that region's tournament page... but that might come across as somewhat confusing to the first time viewer. I don't know - what do other people think? Waterhogboy (talk) 20:07, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
World Cricket League Division 8 (2012)
[edit]As this years Division 8 will be the start of the qualifying path to the World Cup in 2019 I think that a new cycle should be started so that a first time reader does not get confused as to which World Cup Division 8 leads to.
What do other people think? (Moses (talk) 19:06, 1 March 2012 (UTC))
Please DO NOT add Any of the following division's (2012 Division Eight; 2013 Division Seven & Six; 2014 Division Five & Four) to this section as they DO NOT form part of this World Cup qualifying path; these divisions now form part of the qualifying path to the 2019 World cup in England. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iain277 (talk • contribs) 21:36, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
2013? 2014?
[edit]I note that the text of this and other articles refers to the 2009–14 WCL, even though the title of the article is 2009–13. Certainly part of the competition for the World Cup qualification extends into 2014, but the WCL Championship (i.e., "Divisions 1 and 2") conclude this year. Either the text or title of the article should probably be altered, or at the very least some explanatory note (in line with what I've just pointed out) is probably appropriate. Any suggestions as to which would be best? Grutness...wha? 11:11, 5 May 2013 (UTC)
I believe that this was original plan of the ICC in the the World Cup Qualifer was going to be played in Scotlad this summer (2013) but this was then moved to 2014, I have tried to change the title but I've yet to find how to do this.
