What I removed

[edit]

In the edit summary, User:Cvene64 asked, "why was so much info removed? I understand speculation, by why were injury details and Gregan info deleted?". I left an explanation on the talk page of the user who seemed to have added most of it: User talk:Australia will win the world cup. I did miss the Gregan bit out. Partly that's because I wasn't sure how relevant that was; and partly it's because "this decade" could mean anything: since 2000, starting from a zero; or since 1996, ten years ago. I was hoping that if someone restored it they might provide a reference and something more-clearly worded.

The injury thing. Looking at the diff again, can you honestly say I omitted key info? The page is about the tour, so salient facts are "not in the tour; due to injury", no? They have their own pages for the nitty-gritty of who announced what when. I just removed "announced that he would". The stuff about "top halfbacks" is unsupported, which is why I pulled that out. Cite, please? :) On a practical note, my experience with European rugby pages is that leaving things like "top", "vital", "key" adjectives in is both discouraged in the style guide and an invitation to vandalism from people who disagree. It's much better to have a reference to somone reputable calling them that.

I hope that explains what I was up to? I think I was right, but I don't feel strongly enough about it to do it all again!
