  • Article was expanded from a one-paragraph summary to a full article, and within the timescale for DYK. I have read the article, and there is no sign of non-neutrality, and everything is cited. As for the hook, it is probably the most interesting and wide-reaching fact of the whole article, the citation backs it up and it's clearly neutral. Unrelated to your hook, but I was "wow I haven't heard that name for a while" to read "South Humberside" in the source - turns out the county was abolished in 1996, but I don't blame the author in being unable to keep up with the endless redrawings of local authorities in the UK. Lead

[edit]
  • "The top three teams of the 1998–99 Football League Third Division, Brentford, Cambridge United and Cardiff City, gained automatic promotion to the Second Division, while the teams placed from fourth to seventh place in the table took part in play-offs." - repetition of "teams"
  • "and Martin Ling cleared Darryn Stamp's shot." - when did this occur?

Route to the final

[edit]
  • "Scunthorpe United finished the regular 1998–99 season in fourth place in the Third Division, the fourth tier of the English football league system, two places and eight points ahead of Leyton Orient." - repetition of "place(s)"
  • "Amara Simba twice missed chances." - unsure as to what this phrase means
  • Penalty shootout should be wikilinked to the relevant article
  • Same with spot kick
  • "Scunthorpe United's faced Swansea City in the other semi-final" - spelling error
  • The term fouled should also be wikilinked to the correct article

Background

[edit]
  • Wikilink Wembley Stadium to Wembley Stadium (1923) only on the first mention
  • Penalty shootout should ideally not be wikilinked here but in the earlier section

Summary

[edit]
  • "Watts also saw an attempt go wide of the Scunthorpe goal." - please clarify what this sentence means
  • "In the last minute, Barrett then denied Harsley" - denied Harsley at what?

Details

[edit]
  • No references to verify the match details?

References

[edit]
  • Reference 2 "Orient fluff their lines but expect to get it right on Wednesday night" is missing the page number
