Name
[edit]"Anti-Jewish Riots" appears to be a materially more common name for this event, although pogrom is used as well in some cases. Searching for "1945 Tripolitania Jews" provides significantly more references to riots / rioting etc vs. pogrom. Some examples of the more relevant sources:
- UK National Archives "Anti-Jewish riots in Tripolitania, November 1945"
- Brill Reference "Tripolitania Riots (1945 and 1948)"
- Central Zionist Archives, S/25/10/165, "The Arab Anti-Jewish Riots in Tripolitania. 4-7 November 1945"
- Board of Deputies of British Jews, Annual Report 1945, "Anti-Jewish Disorders" (p.49)
- The Origins of the Libyan Nation, Anna Baldinetti, "Anti-Jewish Riots" (p.130)
- The Libyan Arena, Scott L. Bills, "anti-Jewish rioting" (p.41)
- Harvey Goldberg (sourced in the article), used "pogrom" in the title of his 1977 work and "Anti-Jewish Riots" in the title of his 1990 work
I will change the name to "1945 Anti-Jewish Riots in Tripolitania" unless any objections. Oncenawhile (talk) 18:40, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
