Claim my seat here. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 10:46, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- The Sylhet uprising of 1782 (Persian: شورش سریحت, romanized: Šureše Srīḥat) Why Persian?
- Just a suggestion but try to avoid using citations and its information in the lead and infobox. Why because normally the body has all the information and if we put pieces of information in the body and infobox then the body is incomplete. That's part of the structure the lead is an intro and is has the information to summarise us.
- Robert Lindsay is overlinked.
- The Hindus told him that the Muslims planned an attack Unlink both Hindus and Muslims because both are common terms.
- Muslims is overlinked and shouldn't even be linked.
- At 5pm, the Hindus returned to Lindsay's house "5pm" needs a space.
- There are too much "however"s, trim some of them until you have only one. Four "however"s is too much for a short article like this.
- the lowlands where inhabitants lived.[10][12][2] Re-order the refs in numerical order.
- Saeed only ate halal meat (dhabihah).[8][5] Same as above.
- attendant to the country in order to find Pirzada's killer Remove "in order".
- I see a lot of gaps without citations which is OR and ORs shouldn't be there in a GAN.
Infobox
- I see a lot of information who's not in the body and look like ORs like which source told us that his Jemautdar was black? Or the casualties and strength aren't mentioned in the body and they've got an OR feeling because there is no citation linked to a source who claims that.
Sources
- All non-books sources should have data and access-data.
- Please translate all the titles who're originally in Bengali.
- Make a separate section called the "Bibliography" and add all book sources in.
- Syed Zain Al-Mahmood's source is an archive, the original URL should be included.
- Achyut Charan Choudhury's source hasn't even a link or any kind of code?
- Ahmed, M Shamim's source is dead.
- Siddiquee, Iqbal's source is also dead.
Images
- Looks good to me.
There's a lot of work to do here, but if you can address them then it is a GA. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 14:48, 26 September 2019 (UTC)
- @CPA-5: I have completed pretty much all of what you have recommended for me to change. I have re-read the sources in order to make sure the information is accurate. Lindsay's autobiography refers to a Jemautdar (Jamadar) which he defines as a black officer. I assume that the term has a different meaning which is why I removed the word black from the article. Lindsay's letter to the East India Company also shows that the Jamadar was a Muslim, and so he is most likely also a Bengali. The casualties and strength are given references in the body. I cannot find the original URL for Syed Zain Al-Mahmood's article. Iqbal Siddiquee's source is not dead. The use of Persian was simply because it was the official language of the Mughal Empire at the time - I can remove it if you'd like. Other than that, everything is fine. Cheers. - Hello UserNumber, I think we're going in the right way. But there are a little issues here. Like these sentences the puppet-Nawab of Bengal under the crumbling Mughal Empire ruled by Shah Alam II and letter to the government in Fort William to excuse taxes during this period have no citations and "excuse" should be "excise" and in this sentence The fakir died a few days later.[10][8] the refs should be re-order. No worries after these issues this GAN is good to go. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 19:32, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
- @CPA-5 and UserNumber: Hi. Just checking on the status of this. It has been a few months without much action here. AIRcorn (talk) 07:23, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- @CPA-5: Is Shah Alam II's page not enough to show he was the ruler of a crumbling Mughal Empire? Nevertheless, I have included a citation which quoted the popular Persian distich "The empire of Shah Alam, is from Delhi to Palam" to show how depleted his power was. UserNumber (talk) 12:43, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- @UserNumber: By WP:WHYCITE we should cite every "claim" even we know their good enough. Like for an example, we know that Hitler killed many people but we still have to cite this fact/claim. Also, there are more gaps (without a source to support it) to cite. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 12:54, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- That is not completely true. We have WP:Blue. As far as good articles go we require cites for
direct quotations, statistics, published opinion, counter-intuitive or controversial statements that are challenged or likely to be challenged, and contentious material relating to living persons
. "Likely to be challenged" is very broad and generally if a reviewer asks for a cite the nominator is expected to provide it. AIRcorn (talk) 08:20, 2 December 2019 (UTC)

[edit]CPA-5, UserNumber, where does this review stand, and what is left to be done at this point? There hasn't been any activity on this page since December 2, and only minor edits to the article since then, possibly due to the conflicting recommendations at the beginning of December. Thanks. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:50, 19 January 2020 (UTC)
- @RedMoonset, I am waiting for this to be a good article. I keep being told to add more and more things every time I do everything he tells me to do.
- Ok, this is ready to go. Cheers. CPA-5 (talk) 22:44, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
