St Brendan-Shaw College is a co-educational Catholic college for students in grades 7-12. It is located in Devonport on the North-West Coast of Tasmania in Australia. The college has around about 600 students.

College Houses

The College has four Houses:

Dillon (Green)

Head of House- Rosalie McDonald

Dillon is named after Brother Dillon, the first Principal of St. Brendan-Shaw College

Griffin (Blue)

Head of House- Anton Bezemer

The Griffin block is situated at the far eastern end of the school. It is also the most southern building in the school. All the year 7 classrooms are situated in the Griffin building. It also houses the science labs.

Lyons (Red)

Head of House- Peter Stubbs

Lyons is named after former Premier of Tasmania and Prime Minister of Australia, Joseph Lyons.

MacKillop (Gold)

Head of House- Gavin Hicks

Named after Mary Mackillop of the sisters of St Joseph .

Notable alumni


PE Department

The PE department includes several teachers: Mr A. Aherne, Mr S. Ryan, Ms R. Innis, Ms R. Sushames, R. Hubble (netballer extraordinare)and Ms J. Strawbridge. PE (Physical education)is a compulsery subject in years 7-10 and an optinal non Pre-Terchiary subject in years 11-12. Often one of the less stressful subject enjoyed by most students.

Charitable involvements

The school is active in several charitable organizations such as: St. Vincent De Paul, Project compassion, each of the houses raise money for different charites throughout the year by selling chocolates or merchandise. The school is most notably heavaly involved in funding for private school in Tanzania
