St. Francis High School, also known as St. Francis , SFCP, or SFHS amongst its students and faculty, is a co-educational, college preparatory, Roman Catholic secondary school located in Wheaton, Illinois and was founded in 1956 by the Christian Brothers, Franciscan Sisters, and Ladies of Loretto (Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary). It is currently operated by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Joliet in Illinois. St. Francis strives to prepare its students for college, and thus sets high academic standards. The school is relatively small compared to other high schools in the area. The admissions process requires an incoming freshman to have above-average grades. St. Francis has had a good record of success in allowing its students to achieve high potential, with 97% of its 2007 senior class going on to college, some earning a combined $8.1 million in scholarships. St. Francis is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
The St. Francis varsity girls' volleyball team was nationally ranked in 2006. On November 11, 2006, St. Francis won the Illinois Double A state championship 25-18 in both sets. They are also the only program to ever win both single-A and double-A championships in girls' varsity volleyball.
The St. Francis varsity football team won the IHSA class 5A championship in 2008-09 season at Memorial Field at Champaign, Ill. Their 1st State Championship came after a 13-1 season with that lone loss to Montini Catholic High School. [1]
