Shota Fujio (藤尾 翔太, Fujio Shota, born May 2, 2001) is a Japanese professional footballer who plays as a forward for J1 League club Machida Zelvia.

Early life

Fujio was born in Osaka Prefecture on May 2, 2001. He joined J1 League club Cerezo Osaka from the youth team in 2020.

Career

Cerezo Osaka U-23

[edit]

Fujio made his debut for Cerezo Osaka U23 against Kagoshima United on 16 June 2018.[1] He scored his first goal for the club on 6 October 2019 against Giravanz Kitakyushu, scoring in the 62nd minute.[2]

Fujio scored a last minute goal against Urawa Red Diamonds on his senior team debut after coming on as a substitute in the 86' minute.[3]

Mito Hollyhock

Fujio made his debut for Mito against Montedio Yamagata on 20 June 2021.[4] He scored his first goal for the club against Machida Zelvia, scoring in the 21st minute.[5]

Tokushima Vortis

Fujio made his debut for Tokushima against Zweigen Kanazawa on 19 February 2022.[6] He scored his first goal for the club in the 41st minute on 27 February 2022.[7]

Loan to Machida Zelvia

Fujio made his debut for Machida Zelvia against Mito Hollyhock on 12 March 2023.[8] He scored his first goal for the club against JEF United on 3 June 2023, scoring in the 90th+6th minute.[9]

Fujio made his league debut for Machida Zelvia against Gamba Osaka on 24 February 2024.[10] He scored his first goal of the season for the club against Nagoya Grampus on 2 March 2024, scoring in the 21st minute.[11]

International career

Fujio has international caps at youth level (U-16, U-18 and U-21), as well as U-23 for Japan. He scored 2 goals at the group stage match against Paraguay in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
