Serling & Abramson, formerly known as Michael B. Serling, P.C., is an American law firm founded in 1975, headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan.[1] Michael B. Serling founded it; later, Eric Abramson joined the practice in 1989.[2][3][4]
Serling & Abramson primarily focus on representing complainants in asbestos-related mesothelioma and lung cancer litigation. Other areas of interest for this firm are wrongful death cases and other mass tort personal injury cases.
Overview
[edit]Michael B. Serling's journey into asbestos litigation began with a case in 1975. A young widow of an asbestos insulator approached Serling, seeking justice for her husband, who had died at the age of 52.[5][6][7] Serling secured a substantial settlement for her family, and this case ignited ' 'Serling's passion for asbestos litigation, setting the foundation for what would become a lifetime mission to help victims of asbestos exposure.[8][9]
Eric Abramson joined the firm in 1989 as an asbestos product exposure investigator. His experience identifying asbestos products across Michigan and beyond inspired him to pursue a law degree.[10][11] By 2000, Abramson was sworn into the Michigan bar and began his career as an asbestos litigator.
One of the firm's achievements occurred in 1984, when Michael B. Serling and his co-counsel, Philip J. Goodman, were selected to represent over 300 Michigan school districts in a class-action lawsuit against numerous asbestos manufacturers and suppliers.[12] This case resulted in over $120 million recovery, facilitating the removal of asbestos products from more than 2,000 school buildings. The success of this lawsuit underscored the firm's ability to tackle large-scale cases and effect significant change, enhancing safety for students, teachers, and visitors statewide.[13]
While Serling & Abramson, P.C. represent cases in asbestos litigation, the firm has expanded its practice areas to include a wide range of personal injury and wrongful death cases.[14] These areas include:

[edit]Serling & Abramson, P.C. focuses on individuals who have developed ovarian cancer linked to the prolonged use of talcum powder products. With extensive experience and approach, our firm's attorneys work to hold manufacturers accountable for the harm caused by asbestos-contaminated talc.[16][17]
Other Personal Injury Cases
[edit]The firm handles cases involving roundup weed killer cancer claims, auto accidents, on-the-job injuries, sexual abuse claims, toxic hair relaxer cases, defective drug and medical device claims, and wrongful death. By partnering with law firms nationwide, Serling & Abramson, P.C. extends its reach and impact, ensuring complete representation for clients.[18][19][20]
' '' 'Serling & Abramson, P.C. also maintains strong relationships with various trade unions, representing members of professions most affected by asbestos exposure. These include asbestos workers, boilermakers, powerplant and utility workers, laborers, electricians, plumbers, pipefitters, millwrights, steelworkers, and chemical workers.[21][22] With offices in Birmingham, MI, and Allen Park, MI, Serling & Abramson has established local connections with individuals exposed to asbestos at various job sites throughout Michigan.
In 2023, Serling & Abramson, P.C. co-authored Michigan Mesothelioma and Lung Cancer Guide, a comprehensive resource detailing warning signs, at-risk professions, and asbestos-containing products in Michigan.[1]
