The second federal electoral district of Chihuahua (Distrito electoral federal 02 de Chihuahua) is one of the 300 electoral districts into which Mexico is divided for elections to the federal Chamber of Deputies and one of nine such districts currently operating in the state of Chihuahua.
It elects one deputy to the lower house of Congress for each three-year legislative period, by means of the first-past-the-post system.
District territory[edit]
Under the 2022 districting plan, which will be used for the 2024, 2027 and 2030 federal elections,[1] the second district covers the south of Ciudad Juárez and the adjacent municipalities of Ahumada, Guadalupe and Práxedis G. Guerrero.[2] The district's head town (cabecera distrital), where results from individual polling stations are gathered together and collated, is the city of Ciudad Juárez.[3]

2017–2022[edit]
Between 2017 and 2022 the district comprised the municipalities of Ahumada, Ascensión, Buenaventura, Casas Grandes, Galeana, Guadalupe, Ignacio Zaragoza, Janos, Nuevo Casas Grandes and Práxedis G. Guerrero, together with the south of the municipality of Juárez and the southern portion of Ciudad Juárez.[4]
2005–2017[edit]
Under the 2005 districting scheme, Chihuahua's second district covered the western portion of Ciudad Juárez and of the surrounding municipality of Juárez.The head town was Ciudad Juárez.[5]
1996–2005[edit]
Almost exactly the same as the 2005–2017 configuration.[6]
1979–1996[edit]
Between 1979 and 1996, the second district was located in the south of the state, centred on the city of Hidalgo del Parral, an area covered by the 9th district under the 2022 plan.[2]
