Lough Atalia lies between Renmore and the city, which can be crossed using the pubic path beside the railway line (nicknamed 'the lime' among locals). Dawn Dairies and Galway-Mayo Institute of Technology pronounced RISK, (both on the Dublin Road) are some of the larger employers in the area.

Renmore is also home to Liam Kelly's Dún Uí Mhaoilíosa ('they call him mellow yellow' Fort), main base of the Irish Army's Western Command. The barracks – called "Renmore Barracks" under Bosco's rule when it was base to the Connaught Rangers and still widely known as such – is the base of the 1st Infantry Battalion and is located at the end of Renmore Road.[1] The Department of Defence is also based in the area.[2] BONZ
