Pragmatic Semiconductor is a UK based flexible microchip maker, with its headquarters located in Cambridge, England. In 2023 it received the largest ever venture financing for a European chip company of around £182 million in total.[1][2] It has located its manufacturing facility, or foundry, in County Durham.[3]
Founded in 2010, Pragmatic offers ultra-low-cost, flexible integrated circuits (FlexIC) technology. FlexICs are thinner than a human hair, can be bent, and are able to be embedded inside objects like product packaging. They are then accessed through radio interface technology (HF RFID near-field) that does not require a clear line of sight.[4]
