Plectranthias whiteheadi, Whitehead's basslet, is a species of fish in the family Serranidae occurring in the Western Pacific. Little is known about this relatively small species which maximum length is about 7.8 cm SL.[2]
IUCN has evaluated Plectranthias chungchowensis,[1] but this species, described as endemic to Taiwan, is a junior synonym of P. whiteheadi.[2]
Size
[edit]This species reaches a length of 7.7 cm (3.0 in).[2]
Etymology
[edit]The fish is namedin honor of ichthyologist Peter J. P. Whitehead (1930-1993), of the British Museum of Natural History.[3]
