- Boys' Basketball - The Pelham High School boys' Varsity team is on the rise under new coach Joel Floyd (Former golf coach, true player's coach). The Panthers are led by juniors Graham Reilly, Tanner Rice, Jacob Richardson, Jordan Brooks, Josh Wheeler, Tony Williams, and Lamar Dukes. Recently, the Panthers' student section has seen a rapid growth in attendance. Led by students Braxton Holley, Jackson Bradford, Eric Wallace, and the JV Basketball Team, beating the Panthers in their own gym has become a difficult task. Pelham beat Thompson for the first time this decade during the 2009 season. Following their home victory on January 19th, the Panthers finished off the season sweep of the Warriors.
- Cinco de Mayo is a widely celebrated event in Pelham High School originally started by Mrs. Bishop's Spanish III class. It celebrates the independence of Mexico largely because 94% of the attendees of Pelham are Mexican. Class is stopped for 1 hour of the day to have a large Cinco de Mayo party usually led by Tyler Clemmons, Josh Wheeler, and Jacob Richardson who are the most notable Mexicans in the school[3].
- Boys' tennis - The Pelham High School tennis team placed in the top 5 of the 6A AHSAA state tournament six consecutive years, in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009. During this time, PHS athletes won two individual state titles. John Flaniken won the no. 2 singles position in 2006, and Flaniken paired with Jim Flaniken, who paired with Jacob Richardson to win the no. 1 doubles position in 2009.[4]
- Debate - Pelham recently resurrected their debate team. In 2006, Pelham had public forum teams place first, fifth, and sixth at Vestavia Hills High School's Novice Tournament. Pelham also had public forum teams finish as finalists and semi finalists in the 2007 Alabama state debate tournament. Pelham's Public Forum team of Brandon Grimes and Loren Willis qualified for the National Forensic League's high school national tournament in 2007. Also produced current University of Alabama debate team member Jacob Forehand who was the 7th best speaker nationally in 2009 in Parliamentary Debate.

- Founded by Jacob Richardson, Eric Wallace, and Josh Wheeler, It's the first organization to win multiple state titles without any extensions in U.S. history. In between its first title in 1974, it funded the largest cancer research facility in Bangladesh. It encountered its largest success when members began protesting Operation Desert Storm. Sometime in the late 90's they calculated the gravitational necessities to fly and were seen flying through the halls of Pelham High School and through the skies of the city. Soon after they held a meeting for the countries of the world and discussed the violations to the Nuclear Testing Requirements Act and in the meeting they created the Peaceful World Beginnings Agreement which was signed by 136 countries and smoothed over tensions as well as prevented WWIII.[6] In 2001 4 of the members received the congressional medal of honor as a result of the heroism they displayed in the attack on the world trade centers. Over half of the members helped campaign for Barrack Obama and 90% of them now live in the Swiss Alps devoting their lives to Buddhism and they strive to bring back their learnings to Pelham High School in the next few years. [7]
- Salmon - Not only is salmon one of the two school colors of pelham high school, but it is also a gesture of friendship among many students. A "salmon" is when one student flaps his hand between the arms, legs, or under the chin of another student. The founder of this gesture is unknown.
- Stealing horse - Stealing someone's horse is also a common friendship quality shown. Stealing a horse involves pinching the Polo horse on someones shirt and keeping it for later.
- Jew Hat - One of the more popular friendship qualities (not as popular as salmon of course). Jew hat involves placing your palm on someone's head like a jew hat. Friends who are well prepared can easily counter this with a "Hitler" where they salute with their arm like the nazis did, in an attempt to block the oncoming jew [[hat].
- Shirt Pockets - People who wear shirt pockets are the worsest people at school the day they wear one. Spectators are encouraged to "dunk" the pocket by slamming their hand into the pocket.
