Pacelli High School is a private secondary school located on the north side of Stevens Point, Wisconsin in the Roman Catholic Diocese of La Crosse. The school, named in honor of Pope Pius XII, was founded in 1955 by Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools (Christian Brothers).

History

Originally an all-boys high school, Pacelli merged with the all-girls Maria High School in the early 1970s to create a co-ed school offering a college-prep curriculum. The school is currently housed in the former Maria High School building. The former Pacelli building on Division Street is now home to the local YMCA. Pacelli became part of the Stevens Point Area Catholic Schools when consolidation of all the Catholic schools took place in 1986.

Athletics

The 1995 Pacelli Cardinals captured the WISAA Division III championship at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, capping an 11-0 season.

The 1998 Pacelli Cardinals baseball team took the WISAA Division III championship. In 2003, they won the school's first WIAA Division III title, defeating the Zephyrs of Menasha St. Mary's 6-3.

On November 17, 2005, the Pacelli Cardinals won the WIAA Division 7 state football championship against the Gilman Pirates. The score was 46-20 and marked the 300th career win for head coach Bob Raczek.

On June 5, 2007, the Pacelli golf team won the WIAA Division 3 state golf tournament with a two-day total of 639 (318,321), making for a 16-shot victory over Osseo-Fairchild.

It also has a soccer team that in 2010 won the regional title for the first time in school history.
