Ohio Christian University (formerly Circleville Bible College) is a private university located in Circleville, Ohio. The university is denominationally affiliated with the Churches of Christ in Christian Union. As of Spring of 2009, approximately 900+ students were enrolled in Ohio Christian University's traditional, adult, and online degree programs.
History
The university was founded in 1948 as Mount of Praise Bible College, which later became Circleville Bible College. The primary objective of the nascent Bible College was to train ministers for the Churches of Christ in Christian Union denomination. The Bible College then met at the Mount of Praise Campground, where the Churches of Christ in Christian Union held annual revivalist camp meetings. In 2006 the college changed its name to Ohio Christian University, and in the same year received full regional accreditation due to the dilligence and hard work of former university president John W. Conley.

Campus
The university sits on a rural campus, which overlooks acres of scenic farmland, but is only minutes from the city of Circleville. Classrooms are situated in the Maxwell Library (named for Melvin and Laura Maxwell), and Johnson Hall, both of which have undergone extensive renovations in the past decade. Among the changes to Johnson Hall was the addition of Conley Ministry Center, which was dedicated to former University President Dr. John W. Conley who died on July 25 of 2008. In 2007, the university opened its new Leadership Center, as well as a new coffee shop and dining commons. In the center of campus sits the Case Clock Tower, named for Dr. David A. Case. Dr. Case is the head of the Bible/Theology Department. Residence halls include York Hall, named after Alvin York, Moore Hall, and a new dorm built in 2007.
Academics
Ohio Christian University offers the Bachelor of Arts (BA), and Associate of Arts (AA) degrees. In addition to a traditional undergraduate program, the university also offers an adult degree completion program and an online degree program. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, and is a member of the North Central Association.
Athletics
At Ohio Christian University, champions are trained for success on and off the playing field. Competitors bloom while playing for an NCCAA National Championship; they become champions by serving the community around them. OCU coaches and players understand winning comes from excellence, and that character comes from perseverance. The campus community is also united together, rallying our Trailblazers on to victory.
OCU Athletics compete at the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division II level. The Ohio Christian University Trailblazers compete in one of the NCCAA's toughest conferences, the Mid-East Region.
Men's Athletic opportunities include baseball, soccer, basketball, and golf. Women's Athletic opportunities are volleyball, basketball, and softball.
Ohio Chrisian University received its first ever Championship in any sport in the year 2008 from the Men's Soccer program. They finished with a 10-5-1 regular season record and were named Regular Season Mid-East Regional Champions.
Also in this amazing soccer season a record was broken for most post season awards with the following: All-Region 1st Team: Emanuel Harris, Kevin Street and Dexter Chapman, All-Region 2nd Team: Dominic Lehman, Jimmy Galvan and Steven Vogelgesang. Emanuel Harris was second in the nation with goals scored with 23.
There are rumors of the Men' Soccer team merging into the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference (OCCAC) in the year 2009, and also rumors of a Women's Soccer team forming in the year 2009.
Student Life
The university's student life team is committed to the spiritual growth and academic success of every student. The Student Involvement (S.I.) Center and S.H.I.N.E. (Serving Him In Nations Everywhere) are student organizations with a focus on Christian mission. The Ministerial Association is a student-led organization for students aspiring to a career as clergy. At OCU, students will have service opportunities on campus and around the world.
