Mollepata District is one of nine districts of the province Anta, in the Department of Cuzco, in Peru.[1] It is part of the Salkantay trek, an alternative route to the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, which passes through the Vilcabamba Range from Mollepata to Santa Teresa.[2]
Ethnic groups
[edit]The people in the district are mainly indigenous citizens of Quechua descent. Quechua is the language which the majority of the population (74.13%) learnt to speak in childhood, 24.83% of the residents started speaking using the Spanish language (2007 Peru Census).[3]
