Mohammed Asaduzzaman
Mohammed Asaduzzaman is the first South Asian Muslim mayor of Brighton and Hove, a city in the United Kingdom. He was elected to the Brighton & Hove City Council in the Holling dean and Fiveways ward in May 2023.[1][2][3][4]
Early life and education
[edit]He was born in Bangladesh, and is a graduate in Medicine from the University of Dhaka in 2005. He pursued postgraduate residency and clinical fellowship in Pediatrics.[5]
Life
[edit]Asaduzzaman has lived in the city for 30 years and has a degree in political science. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he provided 500 free meals to essential service providers, advocated for vaccinations for those with uncertain immigration status, acted as an interpreter for those in legal need, and supported victims of crime.[6] In 2024, he was appointed as Deputy Mayor and is expected to take over the mayoralty.[7][8][9]
