[edit]

I reverted a recent change to this template which replaced the image with another image (File:Arctica surface.jpg). While I have no particular attachment to this image, and the other one was very nice, we can't just replace the image without changing the mapping formula. The formula is specifically designed for a particular projection, and the new image was not the same projection. I would update the mapping formula and use the new image, but I have no idea what projection is used in that image. Thanks! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 22:22, 9 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

What a coincidence that I wandered into my previous contribution's talk page and found your comment! I had long thought File:Arctic big.svg would not be aligning to the map standard for location maps, and after reading your comment I took a look in the Commons, and found File:Arctic Ocean location map.svg and File:Arctic Ocean relief location map.png. I have updated this template to use them.
As for your File:Arctica surface.jpg, I have not reverse-engineer its projection yet. – PeterCX&Talk 17:03, 22 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
