Someone at WP:MP/E said that he is clearly [is] not the only person who made the mistake
. Adding a module to catch similar errors will prevent future mistakes. 216.58.25.209 (talk) 20:54, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds good to me. SL93 (talk) 21:05, 21 March 2025 (UTC)
- Linking to the Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors conversation for posterity. I like the idea of automation flagging simple mistakes, but I don't believe this template is the right spot for it. Such automation should be applied to the prep areas as well, so prep builders can take a stab at fixing potential issues. Shubinator (talk) 00:17, 25 March 2025 (UTC)

MOS:APOSTROPHE?
[edit]In Special:Permalink/1283090592, this is calling out MOS:APOSTROPHE which does not seem correct. RoySmith (talk) 12:22, 30 March 2025 (UTC)
- The curly apostrophes are in the contractions. It might be hard to see, but quotes (") are not apostrophes and compare "don’t ... shouldn’t" with "don't ... shouldn't". Launchballer fixed this in the next 2 edits: [2] and [3].
- The fact that this is a quote doesn't create an exception. Per MOS:CONFORM:
- Convert apostrophes and quotation marks to Wikipedia's style:
- These should be straight, not curly or slanted. See § Quotation marks.
- Convert apostrophes and quotation marks to Wikipedia's style:
- If you still believe this is not correct, you can request that we limit the scope of this module to the WP:DYKG page. That would be unfortunate because it might let things like the inconsistent apostrophes on this nomination and perhaps a missing use of {{'s}} slip though.
