Miss and Mister Supranational India is a national beauty pageant that selects India's representatives for the global Miss Supranational and Mister Supranational competitions, which take place annually in Poland.[1]

History

[edit]

Miss Supranational India

[edit]
Miss Supranational India

India's participation in Miss Supranational began in 2011, with Michelle Almeida as its first representative. Selected through the Indian Princess organization, she achieved a top 20 placement and won the Miss Supranational Asia and Oceania title at the Miss Supranational 2011. In 2013, The Times Group obtained the pageant's license. Vijaya Sharma was the first representative under The Times Group, selected through Femina Miss India 2013, placing in the top 20 at Miss Supranational 2013.[2] From 2014, India's delegate has been selected through Miss Diva, a sister pageant of Femina Miss India. That year, Asha Bhat won Miss Supranational 2014, making her India's first titleholder at the international pageant.[3]

Between 2016 and 2023, Miss Diva's runner-up held the title of Miss Diva Supranational. However, starting in 2024, a change will occur in the pageant structure, with the primary Miss Diva winner being awarded the Miss Diva Supranational title.[4]

Mister Supranational India

[edit]
Mister Supranational India

India's participation in the Mister Supranational pageant began at its inaugural edition in 2016, with Jitesh Naresh Thakur as the first representative thorugh Mister India competition. Thakur secured a 2nd Runner-up position and was awarded the Mister Supranational Asia title.[5] In 2023, the newly formed Mister Supranational India organization, led by Himadri Bhatnagar, acquired the licence. Raj Sunil Singh was their first delegate but did not reach the semi-finals, ending India's streak of placements.[6]

In 2024, The Times Group regained the license to select future representatives for Mister Supranational, starting with the 2025 edition.[7]

International Victories

[edit]

India currently holds two Miss Supranational titles and one Mister Supranational title.

The first victory came in 2014 when Asha Bhat won Miss Supranational 2014, making India the second Asian country to secure the crown.[8][9] In 2016, Srinidhi Shetty brought India its second Miss Supranational title, making it the only country with two wins.[10][11]

At Mister Supranational 2018, Prathamesh Maulingkar became India's first titleholder, and to date, he remains the only Asian to have won the Mister Supranational title.[12][13][14][15]
