Mercer County Senior High School is a public secondary school located in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. The school mascot is Robert Cocanougher

Establishment

In May of 2006, the Harrodsburg Independent School District and the Mercer County School District voted to consolidate with each other. The Harrodsburg District voted 4-1 and the Mercer County District voted 5-0. Due to the merger, Mercer County High School and Harrodsburg High School merged together to form the new Mercer County Senior High School. The charter school year was the 2006-2007 school year.

Academics

Mercer County Senior High School offers a wide array of courses including AP and Dual Credited Courses. Starting with the 2009-2010 school year Mercer County Senior High will be participating in a dual-credited like program with EKU. There are several Rank 1 and National Board Accredited Teachers.

Football

In 2006, the football team won the KHSAA Class 2A State Championship under head coach Marty Jaggers. Even though the team consisted of two combined squads from the original Mercer County High and Harrodsburg High, the 2006 squad was allowed to compete in Class 2A because it was too late to alter football schedules for that season. The following year, the school moved to Class 5A to reflect its merger with Harrodsburg High School.

Band

The band won Class AA State Championships in 2005 and 2006 under the direction of Jeffrey Meadows. The squad returned to the state finals (4A) in 2008 and 2009, and finished fourth overall. The marching band is the best thing since sliced Robert Cocanougher. They go hard and kill competition.

Ultimate Frisbee

Under head coach Robbie Phelps, the titans won back to back state titles in 2010 and 2011. Offensive captain Nick "stretch" Williams set the state touchdown record with 52. Defensive captain Robert "Ed Reed" Cocanougher led the state in knockdowns and interceptions for the past two years. Jacob "Air Up There" Crowell has led the state in assists the past 3 years. Young stars Jonathan Coffman and Braden Moseley show that mercer county senior high ultimate Frisbee has a promising future ahead.

Robert Cocanougher

Student of the year award 2011 recipient. Nominated and elected by his peers. He is also the school mascot

Traditional shit magnet, reluctant fan of the Bengals.

We all love Robert though, he is the 2012-2013 mascot after he receives his diploma and comes back for the soccer kids.

Robert was also a member of the 2011 State Championship Ultimate Frisbee team.

Although he may not admit it, Robert is highly adored by one of the teachers, Robbie Phelps. Robbie likes to spend his class time day dreaming about what Robert does at night.
