Due to his connection with the ruling family, Al-Muslah held several positions within Qatar's Ministries of Interior and Defense in his early career, including director of Sheikh Abdullah bin Khaled al-Thani’s personnel office while at the Ministry of Interior.[citation needed]

Also as a member of Qatar's ruling family, al-Thani previously served as the minister of religious affairs and headed the Ministry of Interior until 2013.[2][3][4] Later, he was appointed the non-executive Director of Solidarity Group Holding BSC.[5]

He has been a non-independent, non-executive director of QIB since 1996. In 2014, Al-Muslah was reappointed at the bank's general assembly meeting. He was also previously a board member at Tadhamon International Islamic Bank.[5]
