The show is produced by Spellbound Productions and written by Pearl Grey, Shanti Bhushan, Vishal Watwani, and Ahsan Bakshi.

Plot

Mann Kee Awaaz Pratigya is set against the backdrop of small town Allahabad, where talks travel faster than wind. Women are treated as mere commodities and they have learnt to live with it. It is a love story of two people who are completely different. Pratigya is lucky to be born and brought-up in an educated family where her father provided her the same privileges and education as her brother. Krishna, on the other hand, is an illiterate who does not have any regard for the importance education. Krishna doesn’t understand the true meaning of love and for him Pratigya is a mere commodity whom he wishes to acquire.

Pratigya is Professor Saxena's educated daughter who is engaged to the son of her father's friend. She likes this boy and is happy. Krishna hears about their wedding and causes a scene where he breaks everything. He bothers Pratigya and even beats up her fiance. The groom's side breaks of the engagement. Krishna proposes the marriage and even gets his father to arrange their marriage. Krishna's father is very strict and doesn't approve at first because Pratigya is from another cast but approves because Krishna persuades him. Pratigya's father is completely embarrassed by what Angand, Krishna's enemy, does pretending to be Krishna. Pratigya agrees to marry Krishna so he can stop bothering her family. Pratigya's brother, Adarsh, marries Krishna's sister in order to get revenge even though he liked someone else. They get married and Krishna's mother, Amma, doesn't like her daughter-in-law. Pratigya doesn't allow Krishna to touch her because she does not really love him.

Angand tries to tell Krishna that she was not a virgin but fails. He wants revenge on Pratigya because she slapped him. Angand tells her family he has dirty pictures of her from when he kidnapped her and demands money. Adarsh and Professor Saxena is jailed. He is later released. Krishna leaves the house because Pratigya never told him this. Pratigya wants to find him but they lock her up. Amma and Shatki, Krishna's older brother, plan to burn Pratigya. They let her go in the kitchen so they can make it look like a cooking accident. Komal, Adarsh's wife, comes before they start and tells them not to do anything by threatening them so they leave her alone. Krishna's two friends help Pratigya leave the house and look for Krishna. Pratigya gets bitten by a snake. Krishna sucks the poison out but it affects him so he goes to the emergency room. He is luckily saved. Patigya and Krishna start to like each other. Adarsh gets hit by a car, driven by Angand's brother. He becomes handicapped. Professor Saxena becomes ill. They don't have enough money for anything. Naina Saxena, the Professor's wife, sells her jewley. Adarsh gets well.

Adarsh is cheating to get money and just bought Komal a car. Krishna just opened up his restaurant but beat someone up so currently has no customers. Pratigya suggests that they have a special deal to attract customers. Adarsh gets arrested and tells his Dad awful things. Sajjan Singh gets Adarsh released by blackmailing the police officer, which makes Adarsh act more arrogant. Pratigya tries to explain to Adarsh that what he is doing is wrong and he is ruining his life, Adarsh says his life was ruined until he got to a better status at work. Thakuraayin decides to make "Baathi-Chokha" for Baba's Dhaba but puts spoilt pickles in the "Baathi-Chokha" which Krishna tries first and gets a bad stomach ache. Thakuraayin blames Pratigya saying she accidentally put the spoilt pickle in the "Baathi-Choka". Meanwhile Shakti also wants money to start a business so Sajjan gives him 20,000 rupees and tells him to double it within a week, Shakti is convinced by Radhe to gamble the money to double it which he does but carries on in greed and loses everything. Shakti decides to sell his ancestral necklace to get the money at the jewellers shop but Sajjan is already sitting there listening to him and beats him all the way back home.

Komal and Adarsh talk about Adarsh living abroad which makes Shyams mother angry and saying that Adarsh would never think what would be going through the family. Pratigya decides to make 'kheer' for Krishna but Thakuraayin says Krishna won't touch it. When Krishna sits down to eat Thakuraayin reveals she made fish for Krishna to eat so Krishna refuses Pratigya's 'kheer' but then Pratigya says its 'Aashtmi' which means nothing with fish or meat can be cooked which makes Sajjan throw the food and yell at Thakuraayin threatening to beat her with his shoe. Thakuraayin creates rifts between Krishna and Pratigya but is caught by Pratigya, which makes Thakuraayin try to kill herself by burning herself to death but is stopped by Krishna but is still burnt and has to be admitted to the hospital.Krishna then tells Pratigya that there relationship is now over. Krishna starts drinking alchohol to help forget about Pratigya.

Krishna's mother takes his thumbpaint on the divorce papers and sends Shakti to take Pratigya's signature but she refuses to sign it. Shakti angrily comes home and tells this to everybody. The next day, Pratigya's father tells her to keep trying to reveal the truth in front of Krishna about his mother. Pratigya goes to a mandir and there, she sees Krishna and says that evrything will be alright between them. However, Krishna says that nothing is going to be alright and that their marriage is over. Pratigya says to give her one last chance and meet her in the back of an old temple but he refuses to come. Pratigya calls Amma in that same place to sign the divorce papers. Amma takes the divorce paper but Krishna sees her going out and asks her to rest but she suddenly hides the papers and say that she is going to the mandir.

Then krishna's friends come and say that pratigya is calling him but he slaps him then after thinking he goes there and see that amma is talking and insulting pratigya and tell her lie that she is going to mandir then amma starts telling how she broke their relationship by putting rotten pickle in bati-chokha,dirying the dhoti and loveing her more than krishna and krishna is listening everything at last amma sees krishna and starts telling her that pratigya has forced her to do that but with broken heart he walk out from their. after a while Krishna wants pratigya so he starts doing all romantic things, he apologized and sang for her at a event and also poured flowers into the bowl instead of milk when he pretended to be a milkman but pratigya is not falling for it she says that krishna has broken the trust and faith in them and dosnt want to come back but krishan is still trying. on the other hand sajjan has brought back a girl called ganga, who he has kept for his service. no one in the house is happy about the decision sajjan has taken to bring ganga in the the house and also everyone has found about amma's cunning plan and all are very angry including sajjan who insists that krishna brngs back pratigya. amma has already threatened ganga, who goes off and starts to cry then sajjan finds her and she requests to sajjan that she wants to go home but sajjan doesnt want this so somehow sajjan makes her happy and asks what she would like to eat ad then she names a few sweets and the next day sajjan orders theses sweets and tells everyone that these are especially for ganga which amma really doesnt like to hear.
