Majhauli Raj

Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction Majhauli Raj is a town and a nagar panchayat in Deoria district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It has a fascinating history of Rajput clan called as Bisens. Origin of Bisens traced back to the sixteen Mahajanpadas era, and the foundation of this clan was led by suryavanshi princess Suryaprabha and Brahmin Mayurbhat. Remnants of the palace are still there which tells its glory. It has several holy palace nearby which include goddess Bhagda temple, Dargah of Bhola Shah and many more. Being in a very strategic location (near to the border of Bihar) it has been subjected to immense security measures. The famous temple of Baba Dirgheswar Nath, a deity of Lord Shiva is nearby which is believed to be once found and worshipped by Ashwathama, a character in the great epic "The Mahabhartha".

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Majhauli Raj had a population of 17,200. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Majhauli Raj has an average literacy rate of 46%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 59%, and female literacy is 33%. In Majhauli Raj, 17% of the population is under 6 years of age. Mostly people speak here Bhojpuri as their prime language along with Hindi.

Administration

This is very ancient town and have 13 ward . Administration is at the level of Nagar Panchayat and after every five year, people select there representatives for their wards. The tehsil level administration is located at Salempur, which was once the largest tehsil/division of Uttar Pradesh.It has its district head quarter at Deoria
