Mahir Bilen Can

Mahir Bilen Can, is a professor of mathematics at Tulane University. Can has published 50+ research papers in esteemed mathematics journals and edited two books. He serves on the editorial boards of Semigroup Forum and the Journal of Gökova Geometry Topology. [1][2]

Education

Can received his Ph.D. in 2006 from the University of Pennsylvania, with the dissertation "Nabla Operator and Combinatorial Aspects of Atiyah Bott Lefschetz Theorem", supervised by James Haglund.[3] He received his B.Sc. degree from Middle East Technical University in 2001.[1]

Can is the author of Algebraic Groups: Structure and Actions, Proceedings of Symposia in Pure Mathematics, 94, American Mathematical Society, 2017.[4]

Students

By 2024, Can has supervised 8 doctoral students in the field of mathematics at Tulane University, including Özlem Ugurlu and Fernando Diaz Morera [3][5]

Recognition

Can was a Fulbright Scholar, hosted by the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Nova School of Science and Technology (FCT-UNL), Department of Mathematics, Almada.[1]
