Template:Spanish name 2 Lorenzo Antonio Melgarejo Sanabria (born on 8 August 1990 in Loma Grande District) is a Paraguayan professional footballer who plays for Benfica in Portugal, mainly as a left back, but formerly a left winger.
Club career

Melgarejo started his professional career with Club 12 de Octubre at the age of 19, going on to represent in his country Club Olimpia and Independiente FBC.
Benfica
Loan to Paços de Ferreira (2011–12 Season)
In early June 2011 he moved to Portugal after being signed by top division giants S.L. Benfica,[1] who immediately loaned him to fellow league club F.C. Paços de Ferreira for one season.[2]
Melgarejo scored on his debut with Paços, a 2–1 home win against U.D. Leiria.[3] He also found the net against F.C. Porto in a 1–1 draw on 25 March 2012 (also at home),[4] eventually finishing the campaign as the club's top scorer.
Return to Benfica (2012–2013 Season)
For 2012–13 Benfica manager Jorge Jesus decided to both recall Melgarejo and reconvert him into a left back, also immediately placing him as a starter.[5][6] On 17 September, in spite of initial criticism,[7] his contract was extended until June 2018 with a release clause of €30 million.[8] He went on to play most of the season as a starter and he played in the 2013 UEFA Europa League Final and 2013 Taça de Portugal Final.
International career
On 14 November 2012 Melgarejo made his debut for the Paraguayan national team, playing the second half of a 3–1 friendly win over Guatemala.[9]
