Mr. Lucas David Howard ([[David St. James]]) is a math and geometry teacher and detention moderator with an extremely unpleasant personality. A vindictive, hateful, perpetually-angry person that hates everything–laughter, children, and even his wife. Everyone at Ridgeway, including Carly and her friends as well as Principal Franklin, dislike him in return. He got in trouble with Principal Franklin in the episode "iGot Detention" after he called him a weak, spineless fool. He eventually returned in "[[List of iCarly episodes|iReunite With Missy]]". Apparently he got demoted to a new position and with a slight change of attitude. Like Ms. Briggs, he was temporarily co-principal, but was demoted back to teacher. His wife thinks he is a loser because of his job, so he frequently cheats on her by making out with Ms. Briggs during detention.

This is a list of fictional characters from the television series iCarly.

Main Characters

Carly Shay

Carly "Carls" Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) is the teen star of her own, extremely popular web show, iCarly. She lives with her big brother Spencer Shay in an apartment at the Bushwell Plaza (located in Seattle, Washington, U.S.A), due to her father being in the United States Navy[citation needed]. She has a quirky sense of humor which is most evident when she is starring in the web show. She often acts as a mediator when her two closest friends, Sam Puckett and Freddie Benson, get into arguments, and sometimes keeps Spencer under control. Although she stressed that she did not want a romantic relationship with Freddie, some episodes have hinted at a possible attraction, such as in "iFight Shelby Marx" when she briefly expressed jealousy at Freddie's crush on Shelby Marx, "iSpeed Date," when the two shared a slow dance, and most notably in "iSaved Your Life", where she briefly has a relationship with Freddie, and in "iThink They Kissed" she clearly shows jealousy of the fact that Sam and Freddie kissed. She also tells Freddie to "straighten up" or to "stop looking" when he looks at other girls, which might be more signs of jealousy. Her first relationship with Freddie did not last, as Nathan felt that Carly was only in love with what he did (saving her life), and not him. The two mutually decided to wait for Carly to "get over the 'hero thing'" to reconsider. (Though Freddie has gotten better and neither have talked about it since.) Carly states that she is a vegetarian, and this is shown when she eats vegetarian pizza is brought a piece of meat when she asked for a fruit. However, she can be seen eating spaghetti and spinach and a hot dog. In the episode "iHatch Chicks", during the iCarly segment, she is wearing a bikini with a flower pattern and a skirt bottom.

Samantha Puckett

Samantha "Sam" Pucket (Jennette McCurdy) is Carly Shay's best friend and co host of iCarly. Sam is shown to have aggressive fights with Freddie and a history of getting into trouble. It is mentioned in the series that she has been arrested three times. However, in the episode 'iWon't Cancel the Show', Sam gets arrested a fourth time after a man cut in front of her in a market, and she shoved a chili dog down his pants, only to find out he was the ambassador of Mexico. The other 3 times are unknown. Sam is also gluttonous, with a particular love for meat (especially fried chicken, bacon, steak, and ribs). She often refers to herself as "Momma." She is very physically fit and several episodes show Sam flipping over full grown men with ease. She has an identical twin sister, Melanie Puckett, who lives out of state and is Sam's polar opposite. Sam herself lives at home with her mother, although she often stays with Carly, as she is dissatisfied with her home life. Carly and Sam's relationship throughout the series is mostly solid, with the only exceptions being seen in "iSaw Him First","iQuit iCarly" and "iDont Want To Fight". Her relationship with Freddie is significantly more complex. Throughout the first season, the two actively hate each other and make no attempts to hide it.However in iKiss they both have their first kiss with each other and from there on they have a love, hate relationship they're is chance that Sam and Freddie both have a crush each other (Sam hated every girl Freddie ever dated but carly but sad about it) .In iSpeed date, when Sam sees Freddie and Carly dancing to a slow song at the Groovy Smoothie, she seems sad and walks away looking back at the two .Despite her short stature, Sam is shown to have a remarkable amount of strength and intimidation skills. Also, Sam is normally depicted as unkempt which affectively makes her less attractive and desirable than Carly. Note: Her potrayal of Trisha Kirby in the episode Bad Girl of Zoey 101 was the inspiration for this role.

Freddie Benson

Fredward "Freddie" Benson (Nathan Kress) is the technical producer for the fictional web-show iCarly, which stars his character's two best friends, Carly Shay and Samantha "Sam" Puckett. His character openly has a crush on the main character Carly Shay, who just might like him back and occasionally shows hints of it, and a feuding, bitter-sweet relationship. Carly says she will only be friends with Freddie. However, in iSaved Your Life, they had a relationship that didn't last long. His relationship with Sam at first is complete hate for each other. In iKiss they have both Sam and Freddie have their with each other and from there on they have a love, hate relationship in one episode Freddie said that Sams butt looks like a ham they're is a chance that Freddie and Sam both have a crush on each other they both show that they have feelings for each other (Freddie hated every boy Sam ever dated) .In the movie iGo to Japan and iMove Out', it's stated that he has a tracking chip in his head that his mother planted ever since he could walk. His father is never mentioned.

Spencer Shay

Spencer "Spence" Shay (Jerry Trainor) is Carly's older brother and legal guardian who is almost always in some kind of crisis. Spencer went to law school for three days, and dropped out to become an artist and sculptor because it was his real dream (although he still has some legal knowledge). By season three, he has still yet to tell his father that he quit law school. He is somewhat strict with Carly, to prove himself a responsible guardian after meeting their grandfather in iWanna Stay with Spencer. He also shows to be responsible when he didn't allow Carly to go to an MMA fight, and when he found out they snuck out, he went over and scolded and grounded her. Despite his usually weird and eccentric demeanor, he is not fooled easily, and his intuition is surprisingly accurate. Spencer is known to be somewhat protective of Carly, such as in an iCarly episode "iDate a Bad Boy", when he does not want Carly to date Griffin at first and forbids her to date him until later he agrees. He works as a sculptor and artist, a common plot device on iCarly, and much of his work can be seen in their apartment. Spencer occasionally stars on iCarly, and at one point took over as a cameraman when Freddie hosted the show. A running joke in the series is that most objects Spencer builds tend to spontaneously burst into flames (with added humor coming from the fact that the part of the item that does so is always made of a material that is non-flammable in real life, such as a hotel bell or the cymbal on a drum). Another recurring gag is he often finds himself in unusual situations in nearly every episode, serving as a subplot, such as teaching art to prisoners or being held captive in the basement of their apartment building. He also appears to be a ladies man, as he is seen dating many different women throughout the series. He is also shown to be quite annoyed by Sam constantly "breaking into" their house, watching their TV, and eating their food. He has even once been shown to be a bit miserly as shown when in "iFight Shelby Marx" when he was outwardly upset upon discovering that Sam spent $100 of his money to watch pay-per-view on his television. Spencer has no form of musical ability, once auditioning as a drummer for a local band, but later kicked out because he "drummed like puke." He also has a 6-string tenor banjo and refers to it as his "little banjo." Despite his occasional dabbling around on it, it's never in tune. Spencer is also shown to be very lazy when it comes to working out.

Secondary characters

Marissa Benson

Marissa Benson (née Atkins) (Mary Scheer) is Freddie's dimwitted, domineering, overprotective soccer mom, seeming to border on psychotic and neurotic at times. She constantly treats her son like a child, and is very paranoid about him getting hurt or having relationships with girls (especially Carly). Marissa constantly embarrasses Freddie in public, often by showing off his baby pictures to kids at school or by commenting to them about some awkward medical issue Freddie is having such as having to take tick baths. Freddie mostly tolerates his mother's over-protectiveness and public embarrassment, but reaches a breaking point in the season three episode "iMove Out", where he finally becomes frustrated enough to leave his mother's home and move into the lowest floor of his and Carly's apartment building, that has no bathroom (it has a sink). He only returns when Marissa promises to stop embarrassing him in public, and not locking him out of some cable channels. She has a somewhat adversarial relationship with Carly, often viewing her as "competition" for her son's affection. Their relationship worsens in "iSaved Your Life", where Marissa blames Carly for Freddie getting hit by a taco truck, saying sinisterly in her ear, "It should have been you!"

Gabriel Cornelius "Gibby" Gibson

Gabriel Cornelius "Gibby" Gibson (Noah Munck) is a friend and classmate of Carly, Freddie, and Sam. Due to his odd personality and pudgy appearance, he is an outcast at school, however this status does not seem to faze him. A running gag on the show is that Gibby often rips his shirt off when he gets excited, or he is seen without it in almost every episode in which he is featured. He often appears on iCarly to assist Carly, Sam and Freddie. His girlfriend is Tasha, a girl no one can believe is dating him due to her being out of his league but despite that she appears to be very much in love with him. Much like Freddie, he is one of the favorite victims of Sam's pranks, but she has shown to have more respect for him. In "iEnrage Gibby", the episode shows Gibby can be ruthless and jealous, but much in a comedic way. After he caught Freddie with his girlfriend, he challenged Freddie to a fight, but in the end everything works out when Freddie showed him a videotape on how Tasha merely tripped onto him. In the same episode, its shown that he is a skilled Kickboxer, and he also start to have hand-to-hand combat lessons (much of Freddie's chagrin, because Gibby wants to use this martial ability against him). In iSaved Your Life, it is stated that Gibby doesn't have cable. In iHave My Principals, Gibby gets a detention for being "too Gibby." He has a younger brother "Guppy" (played by the actor's real life brother, Ethan). It was announced from Dan Schneider that the character of Gibby (who Noah Munck plays) may become a main character in the iCarly series in the future.

Lewbert

Lewbert Horatio Brown (born Lewbert Jermaine Sline) (Jeremy Rowley) is the mean, vain doorman of Carly's apartment. He is 32 years old and was born on September 13, 1977. He has a large, very noticeable wart on his left cheek. In the episode "iFind Lewbert's Lost Love", he reveals that the wart developed because of his verbally abusive ex-fiancee, Marta and is later sent to jail (by saying he committed a crime he didn't do) so he can escape Marta. He is featured on the bit "Messin' with Lewbert" on iCarly, in which Carly, Sam and Freddie pull pranks on him, once going so far that they accidentally blew his wart off his face. He had a short-lived romance with Freddie's mother. However, the relationship did not last because of his terrible personality.

Nevel Papperman

Nevel Papperman (Reed Alexander) is the main antagonist in the show. He runs an extremely popular website, Nevelocity.com, on which he reviews other websites. He tends to have a "posh" personality which includes dressing formally all the time. At first, Nevel has a crush on Carly and initially offered to interview her in order to get close to her (in a lot of his plans include he'll stop if Carly kisses him), with her refusing his romance advances. Nevel tries to take revenge by writing a scathing review of iCarly.com on Nevelocity.com. Most of his plans backfire, unfortunately, resulting in him suffering in some way and presumably cause his website to increasingly run out of business due to his corrupt vendetta nature. In the episode, iGive Away A Car, he claims that his life long dream is to own a haberdashery, instead of getting rid of iCarly. His latest appearance was in iFight Shelby Marx, in which he indirectly hired MMA fighter Shelby Marx to assassinate Carly in a fight match for his own amusement. It is unknown if Nevel is coming back in season 3 or appear in any Season 4 episodes later on.

Chuck Chambers

Chuck Chambers (Ryan Ochoa) is a young boy and a secondary antagonist in Season 2, especially to Spencer. He first made an appearance in "iHurt Lewbert", playing racquetball in the lobby, for which Spencer got him grounded by his father for two days. Since then, Chuck and Spencer have clashed on several more occasions ("iReunite with Missy"; "iTwins"; "iFind Lewbert's Lost Love") each time ending with Spencer winning and Chuck getting in trouble with his father except "iFind Lewbert's Lost Love". After being tricked by Carly for beating up Spencer, he is sent to math camp called Camp AddEmUp for the summer. In iFind Lewbert's Lost Love, he getting grounded too many times had apparently drove Chuck insane and cause him to commit crimes that doesn't relate to Spencer himself, such as he steals television remote controls throughout the building after his father bans him from watching TV, but ultimately escapes capture when Lewbert takes the blame. Much like Sam, he has no respect for rules and is tremendously strong for his size.

T-Bo

T-Bo (Andrew McCutchen) is an employee at the Groovy Smoothie (a parody of Jamba Juice). He often annoys people by asking them to buy random foods, such as bagels, bell peppers, doughnuts, muffins, pickles, and turkey breasts on sticks. He is considered a friend of Carly, Spencer and the gang.

Socko

Socko is a friend of Spencer that is mentioned in several episodes because he and Spencer where friends in High School. Like Carly's parents and most of Sam's family, he is actually never seen on the show. Several members of Socko's family also have ironic names, such as Taylor (suit maker), Rob (thief), Otto (car salesman) Hattie (hat maker), Tyler (tie maker), Penny (T-shirt maker with pennies sewn into the shirt), Freight Dog (freight carrier), Dr. Paxil (therapist), and Isac (optometrist) along with others which are also off-screen characters. Rob (thief), Freight Dog (freight carrier) and Dr. Paxil (therapist) were the only on-screen characters.

Granddad Shay

Granddad Shay (Greg Mullavy) is Carly and Spencer's paternal grandfather who lives in Yakima, Washington. In "iWanna Stay With Spencer", he attempted to get Carly to move with him to Yakima because he thought that Spencer was an irresponsible guardian. In the end, he allowed Carly to stay with Spencer because Spencer found Carly's asthma inhaler that Carly didn't need for 7 years, possibly because Carly was cured from asthma. Ever since his visit, however, Spencer has been a little more strict with Carly. He loves to exercise and can do a handstand while walking.

Mandy Valdez

Amanda Dupree "Mandy" Valdez (Aria Wallace) is iCarly's biggest fan. She is seen in iAm Your Biggest Fan and iWant My Website Back. She is wacky, freaky, wears exotic clothes, and idolizies the iCarly gang, though she is more of a stalker. She is also characterized by her signature "Duck mask"and irritates the gang by quacking. She managed on several occasions to break into Carly's home, and was a temporary owner of iCarly. In iAm Your Biggest Fan, she also starts idolizing the band Spencer auditions to be the drummer of, when she finds one of their CD's.

Tasha Smith

Tasha Smith (Emily Ratajkowski) is Gibby's girlfriend. She had a minor role in "iSpeed Date" and a major role in "iEnrage Gibby". In "iEnrage Gibby", Gibby temporally breaks up with her after thinking that she was cheating on him but they become a couple again after he figures out she just tripped on Freddie. After Freddie proves to Gibby that he wasn't trying to steal his girlfriend, Gibby and Tasha walk away and Freddie couldn't believe that Tasha actually likes him. People can't believe she is his girlfriend because she is considered out of Gibby's league.

Lauren Carlson

Lauren Carlson Gibson (Lauren Benz Phillips in season 2, Deena Dill in season 3) is Gibby's mother. She had a minor role in two episodes ("iGo Nuclear" and "iEnrage Gibby") and had a major role in "iFix a Popstar" as Spencer's (Jerry Trainor)'s girlfriend. She and Spencer end up breaking up because whenever they kiss, Miss Carlson sees Carly's face and Spencer sees Gibby's face. They break up because that freaks both of them out.

Faculty at Ridgeway Junior High School

Principal Theodore "Ted" Franklin

Principal Theodore "Ted" Franklin (Tim Russ) is the school principal, who is fond of Carly and Freddie. He is used to seeing Sam in his office and gives her detention on a regular basis. Ted and his kids are iCarly fans themselves. Like his students, Ted seems to dislike Ms. Briggs and Mr. Howard's rude behavior to his students, and it appears that the feeling is mutual. He was fired for coming out of Spencers' pants scuplture, and sitting on Fudge Balls, but re-hired when his boss saw how Mrs. Briggs and Mr. Howard ran the school, a plot by Carly and her friends. His name might be a combination of the two Roosevelt Presidents, Theodore Roosevelt, and Franklin Roosevelt.

Ms. Francine Briggs

Ms. Francine Rae Cosmina Briggs (Mindy Sterling) is a mean English teacher that Carly and her friends like to tease, and one of Spencer's former teachers while he attended Ridgeway Middle School. She is obsessed with American Idol judge Randy Jackson. She mysteriously disappeared after episode 8 of the series and returned in Season 3. She left the show before Season 2 started filming because she only had a contract for one season. She was temporarily co-principal, but was demoted back to teacher when Principal Franklin was hired again.

Mr. Howard

Mr. Lucas David Howard (David St. James) is a math and geometry teacher and detention moderator with an extremely unpleasant personality. He eventually returned in "iReunite With Missy". Apparently he got demoted to a new position and with a slight change of attitude. Like Ms. Briggs, he was temporarily co-principal, but was demoted back to teacher. His wife thinks he is a loser because of his job, so he frequently cheats on her by making out with Ms. Briggs during detention.

Mr. Vanessa Helen

Mr. Vanessa Helen (Anika Noni Rose) is a history teacher at Ridgeway Junior High School. He is known for being snooty and very strict to his students, even in his former position as lunchroom monitor. He also despises 3-hole punched paper, when he keeps Carly from getting straight "A"s by giving her a "B+" on a history paper. He teaches very fast and if ever asked to slow down he says no and keeps talking. When he tried to help Freddie stand up for himself and shouts "My name is Freddie Benson and I never kissed a girl" causing everyone to laugh. Embarrassed, he tells everyone to stop laughing, and calls Freddie an" unfortunate misfit" as he runs off.

Mr. Stern

Mr. Stern (Joseph Buttler) is a teacher at Ridgeway Middle School. Like Lucas David Howard, He is a very strict teacher and is usually seen coming out of the teacher's lounge when there is an emergency, and is bald-headed on the top. Like Francine Rae Cosmina Briggs, he wears the same glasses. Not much of his personal life is revealed, although in the episode "iSpy A Mean Teacher", we find out he went to a rock concert and also crowdsurfed (And wore shorts, which according to Sam, teachers should never do). He was in "iLike Jake", "iDon't Want to Fight", "iGot Detention", "iMake Sam Girlier" and "iSaved Your Life".

Mr. Henning

Mr. Henning (Andrew Hill Newman) is a science teacher at Ridgeway Middle School. Spencer once had him as a science teacher, but he complained that Mr. Henning smelled like rotting wood. He has been smoking since the age of 18 but then quit at age 21. He stresses the importance of being environmentally friendly, but does so in the wrong ways, and as a result, he tends to give the majority of his students poor grades because they were doing what is supposed to be correct, but is not correct by his standards. He gave Sam an A after simply doing a presentation about eating and drinking from an orange and then disposing of the carcass outside, effectively littering on the sidewalk below, to the rest of the students' horror, especially Freddie but her project turns out to be disgusting by Principal Franklin. He also gave Carly a D-minus because she made an extremely illegal project, so she, along with Freddie and pretty much everyone else in the class had to go (only Carly, Freddie, Sam and Gibby went) onto the Root & Berry Retreat for extra credit.
