This is a list of characters from the American animated television series The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy.

Main Characters

Grim Reaper

Voiced by: Greg Eagles

Grim is the Grim Reaper, a scythe-wielding skeleton in a black hooded robe. He is over 10,000 years old, speaks in a Jamaican accent, and was elected to his position when he was in middle school (though in one flash back he stumbled uppon his scythe and in another his mother and father gave him his scythe to start is career as the Grim Reaper). His scythe is the source of his powers and possesses many magical qualities, though he is still capable of using magic without it (these instances are rare).

By losing a bet to Billy and Mandy, he was fated to be their "best friend" forever, but the children treat him more like a slave. He often is forced to do their chores and create supernatural fun for them. Grim enjoys all kinds of chaos, despair, torture, and many other dark things. He attends children's martial arts classes. Grim is slowly adapting to modern life, and is usually seen, in his free time, watching television.

Billy

Voiced by: Richard Steven Horvitz

Billy is an extremely happy-go-lucky child, with an IQ of -5, which is far below the upper limit of being mentally retarded. He has a pink, extremely large nose, wears a blue and white striped shirt, and covers his orange hair with a red hat. Like his father, he has a number of unpleasant habits, including nose-picking, flatulence, and male chauvinism. Prone to surprising and nonsensical fits of rage, he is extremely hyperactive, with a knack for causing all kinds of disasters, often related to abusing Grim's supernatural items. His fits of rage and the massive destruction he causes with supernatural magic can be so intense it would even scare Mandy away. Has Arachnophobia, Entomophobia, and Coulrophobia. Basically Billy's stupidity causes everything wrong to happen. Billy also has a fear of insects. He gets terrified when first encounter. He also has a spider son named Jeff(whom he adopted till he hatched) who Billy hates completely.

Mandy

Voiced by: Grey DeLisle

Mandy is Billy's closest friend, but has been full of rage since before her birth. She has a blond devil-horn-like hairdo and eyebrows that are in a perpetual frown, although her expression will change in rare occasions when she is afraid or disgusted. Her outfit consists of a pink dress with a picture of a yellow flower on it. She is also the only human character to have no nose, but according to her, she doesn't have one because it is disgusting. This kind of attribute leads to many "nose jokes" referring to Mandy in the cartoon, such as "A noseless mother with bad shoes". In addition, it is revealed in the episode "Really Odd Couple", that she has two small nostrils. She never smiles (with exception of the first season); in fact, it was shown in one episode that if she smiled, the entire fabric of reality would warp. She is not above taking advantage of the stupid and on several occasions has been described as pure evil, Grim refers to her as a "horrible demon child". She can easily intimidate inferior people into doing anything for her, even her parents fear her, they often avoid her by hiding in a closet.

Citizens of Endsville

Harold

Voiced by: Richard Steven Horvitz

Harold, known commonly as Billy's father, is an overweight man with a large, bulbous nose and a lofty black pompadour. He is annoyed with his son at times but he is calmer than his wife. He resembles his son in appearance, personality, sometimes displaying even more stupidity than Billy himself. For example, he picked his brain out and seconds later he ate his brain. In one episode he is said to be an ex-Navy Seal.

Gladys

Voiced by: Jennifer Hale

Billy's mother Gladys is a loving, tolerant and patient, yet mentally unstable, woman despite having to deal with her husband, son, and the presence of the Grim Reaper as her eternal house-guest. She has red hair and is usually seen wearing a floor-length, lavender nightgown. She hates Grim to the point of psychotic obsession she considers him a constant threat to her son's safety. She has a severe facial tic which usually appears when Billy is misbehaving, when her authority is challenged, or whenever Grim is present, most likely developed as a result of her nervous breakdown. She is prone to small fits of insanity and obsessive-compulsive episodes.

Nergal

Voiced by: David Warner (Seasons 1-3), Martin Jarvis (Season 3 +)

Nergal is a mutant creature who lives in the center of the Earth. His name was taken from the Sumerian god, Nergal. He is an all-black supernatural being with green eyes and wearing a business suit. With the ability to shape-shift he can create several tentacles from his back that can electrocute his victims or turn them into beings looking like himself. What Nergal desires most is having friends, which he once stated that it is quite lonely in the center of the world. He is generally considered something of a loser and he often becomes histrionic over his failings. In his first appearances, Nergal was one of the main enemies of Billy, Mandy and Grim, but now as a member of Billy's family, he is a friend of them.

Nergal Junior

Voiced by: Debi Derryberry

Nergal Junior is the son of Nergal and Aunt Sis. He looks more like his father than his mother. Like his father, he has the power to shapeshift and most of the time he appears in the form of a kid who rejected his offer of friendship when he first came to the surface. When he takes another's shape, he keeps his lime eyes, glasses, green tongue and sharp, yellow teeth. His true form is freakish and grotesque, and was never seen on-screen until in the episode The Most Greatest Love Story Ever Told Ever. Like his father, he is lonely and can't find friends, and because of his desperation, he developed evil tendencies and terrorizes everyone who stands in his way, except for Mandy, who he loves, much to Irwin's disdain.

Aunt Sis

Voiced by: Jennifer Hale

Aunt Sis is Billy's aunt. She is a sullen-looking woman with glasses, a large nose, and a hairstyle similar to Gladys. She is a spinster who has experienced four-and-a-half-minutes of love in her "pathetic, lonely life." In the episode Love is Evol Spelled Backwards, Nergal decided to try and see if she was desperate enough to be his life partner. His attempt was successful and the two were married.

Mr. Snuggles

Billy's pet hamster that appeared in the pilot episode. He was a part of the bet that Grim would become Billy and Mandy's best friend if he lost a game of limbo with them. Since that appearance, Mr. Snuggles did not appear until season seven with a white beard and cane as a sign of his aging.

Milkshakes

Voiced by: Grey DeLisle

Milkshakes is Billy's male pink feline who is frequently put into unusual situations by the supernatural events that occur in his owner's life. Milkshakes usually shakes any situation off with a calm meow.

Irwin

Voiced by: Vanessa Marshall

Irwin is Billy's nerdy friend who desperately aspires to be cool and frequently ends sentences with the word "yo". He has an unhealthy crush on Mandy and longs to gain her affection, often stalking her but is usually turned down or threatened by her as a response to his actions. This is possibly the reason why he continues to chase her, as he later admits that he likes who she is due to him having a dark side much like Mandy's but was taught otherwise by his father and eventually grew out of his bad behavior.

Dick

Voiced by: Phil LaMarr

Dick is Irwin's father who is a normal middle-aged man who ends a lot of his sentences with the word "dude". He married a mummy named Judy(who is Irwin's mother), who lives in a sarcophagus in the basement of Irwin's house. While it is never explained why, the basement looks like an Egyptian tomb. Irwin's father insists that their unusual pairing leaves "a lot of questions that don't need to be answered."

Tanya

Tanya (Granmama) is Irwin's grandmother and Dick's mother. She usually ends sentences with "baby," as Irwin does with "yo," and his father with "dude" suggesting a family trait. She is also the wife of Dracula. Despite her angry demeanor, she seems to care for Irwin, but will sometimes embarrass him. She doesn't like to be challenged or insulted, and has a hatred of hip-hop music. Voiced by Phil LaMarr.

Dracula

Voiced by': Phil LaMarr

Dracula is Grim's childhood idol and Irwin's grandfather. The once famous vampire lives in the Home Of The Ancients, a retirement home for old movie monsters. Dracula talks fast and likes to dance. He does not remember names well, and often calls Grim "Skeleton Man" or even "Dummy". He is argumentative and easily distracted and refers to himself in third person. When asked about drinking blood, he is very adamant that he does not suck but scrapes and licks the skin instead. In Dracula Must Die, it was revealed that he had married Tanya years before and was thus the father of Dick and grandfather of Irwin, a fact that neither of them were aware of. Tanya had thought he left them, ironically, he was chased out by her.

In the fall of 2006, Dracula became the network's Halloweenhorror host in puppet form, along with Courage the Cowardly Dog. Dracula was yet again a host for the movie Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure. He also made a cameo in the movie itself, during the musical number. Dracula is a direct reference to the cult blaxploitation film character, Blacula and is a combination of Redd Foxx and James Brown in personality. [1]

Pud'n

Voiced by: Jane Carr

A weak and easily frightened classmate of Billy, Mandy, and Irwin, Pud'n is often the victim and/or instigator of some trauma. He is a red-headed, freckled boy with buck teeth, and wears a hoodie. He has no parents but was indeed raised by wolves. Despite this, Pud'n loves dollies, bunnies, flowers, and many other stereotypical things a little girl would usually enjoy. At times, Pud'n can also be a terrifying force and show a dark side to his personality.

Sperg

Voiced by: Greg Eagles

Sperg is the local bully, who constantly bullies Billy, Irwin, Pud'n, and other kids to no end. He is a husky boy whose preferred method of terrorizing nerds is by administering his "deadly" wedgies. Despite his physical strength, he is frightened of Mandy because she is tougher than him.His only weakness is his mother, who he really loves, despite saying a raw octopus tentacle is better than the food she makes.

Mindy

Voiced by: Rachael MacFarlane

Mindy is the iconic "popular girl." She is obsessed with proving her worth to Mandy (when she first moved into Endsville, she wanted to become friends with Mandy but was rejected, starting her hatred for her), who doesn't much care for the spoiled girl. She considers herself superior to her classmates, and her father buys her outrageous gifts. Mindy is red-haired and freckled and she describes herself as "much prettier" than Mandy. She frequently calls her classmates "losers." But deep down inside she envies Mandy's witty ways and all her adventures with her friends Grim and Billy. It is implied that she did not receive much attention from her mother when she was younger, resulting in a subconscious plea for attention from anyone who will give it to her. This is possibly the reason why she acts the way she does towards other people.

Principal Goodvibes

Voiced by: Chris Cox

Principal Goodvibes is the principal of Billy and Mandy's school, with a voice reminiscent of Paul Lynde[citation needed]. His name was legally changed to Goodvibes, and he makes sure that his students feel good to the point of absurdity. It is later revealed in one episode that he sleeps in his car.

Secondary characters

Hoss Delgado

Voiced by: Diedrich Bader

Hoss is a spectral exterminator; a hunter of paranormal creatures. He is modeled after Ash, the protagonist of the famed The Evil Dead horror movie trilogy and Snake Plissken, the character portrayed by Kurt Russell in John Carpenter's films "Escape from New York" and "Escape from L.A.".[original research?] Hoss possesses one real hand and one mechanical one, the latter of which can seemingly produce any tool he desires, most commonly a metal fist or chainsaw. Hoss is the macho, take no prisoners, gung ho, manly figure in Grim Adventures, though in most episodes he acts in a clumsy and/or goofy manner. For a while he dated Eris, goddess of Chaos, and their relationship was very dysfunctional. His surname translated from Spanish ironically means "slender" and his full name is a play on the word "hostile". Hoss is known to make incredibly odd and usually completely irrelevant metaphors, often when talking to someone who is either cowardly or stupid. Similarly he uses exclamatory phrases which are different but recognizable from their original form.

Eris

Voiced by: Rachael MacFarlane

Eris is the Greek goddess of strife and matron deity of the Discordianism religion, here portrayed as a curvaceous and beautiful, but vindictive, blonde-haired woman with a gap in her teeth. She delights in causing all kinds of chaos, and does a multitude of destructive things. She possesses the powerful Apple of Discord, a golden apple which can transform into any shape to perpetuate chaos. Billy calls it a magic banana. [2] Her accent and behaviour are prone to sudden shifts, from a stereotypical valley girl to a refined British woman. Eris appears in "Wrath of the Spider Queen", attending the same school as Grim, Velma, Nergal, Lord Pain, and Boogey.

Eris' appearance is possibly a reference to Madonna, who is known for her blonde hair and coquettishness, and for adopting a faux English accent. Eris's teeth gap and mole is similar to Madonna's.

Jeff the Spider

Voiced by: Maxwell Atoms

A spider that thinks Billy is his father after he hatched him. Jeff is naive towards Billy's hate for him and usually blames himself for Billy's resentment towards him although has with Mandy's help managed to scare him into loving Jeff in return.

General Skarr

Voiced by: Armin Shimerman

General Skarr first appeared in the show Evil Con Carne, where he was Hector Con Carne's military commander. He is usually a cold-hearted, hateful and harsh man, with big interests in power and world domination. Yet when alone, he behaves more calmly, tending to his garden. He has a scar on his face. Retired from villainy, he moved into Billy and Mandy's neighborhood and is constantly struggling with the temptation to return to his evil ways. He attempts to distract himself usually by gardening. Whilst he is no longer a member of Evil Con Carne, Skarr has many weapons and mementos from his past which he stores in his private study. Among these, are his military outfit, and a large picture of himself with Hector and Ghastly.

Skarr bears a striking resemblance to Herr Starr, a key antagonist in Garth Ennis and Steve Dylan's comic book series Preacher, as well as Fearless Leader from The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show and General Armin Hirr Skull from Wyatt Leahy's comic strip Evil Genius Mayhem.[citation needed]

Boogey Man

Voiced by: Fred Willard

An old arch-enemy of Grim's since junior high school, and a former school bully, Boogey played pranks on Grim throughout his school career. Boogey is Grim's rival in scaring people, but usually fails in doing so. Constantly frustrated by his inability to scare modern-day children, Boogey visits Grim in the episode, Bully Boogie. He challenges his old rival to a scaring contest, which he promptly loses, and is banished to another dimension.

The Boogey Man is prominently featured as the main villain in the television movie "Billy & Mandy's Big Boogey Adventure" where he testified against Grim in front of the Underworld Court. After getting his old nemesis fired from his position as reaper, he volunteers to take Grim and his accomplices out for a sail with his pirate crew, so that he may dispose of the former reaper.

Lord Charles Pain

Voiced by: Henry Gibson

Grim's servant who comes from the Plane of Eternal Suffering (he later says he is really Charles from the Plane of Happy Ponies). He first appeared in House of Pain. He was also featured in Everything Breaks as Mandy's servant. He carries a mace and shield, wears a spiked helmet and he has a red and black cape and turquoise armor. He has tattoos all over his body which originally featured Grim, but were later altered to show his devotion to Mandy.

Fred Fredburger

Voiced by: C.H Greenblatt

Fred is an idiotic green, elephant like creature with small horns who has a short attention span. He lives in the underworld, and first appeared in the episode "Keeper of the Reaper". He appears to mean well, this perhaps led to huge popularity with many which in turn led to his appearance in other episodes. His dialogue consists of saying his name constantly and saying "yes" at random times, usually the end of a sentence. He is usually an annoyance to other characters, especially Grim, and seems to have a strong liking towards frozen yogurt, nachos, and variety of other foods. He speaks in simple English, and likes to spell words, particularly his own name. He appears to be very simple minded, but is usually a positive, good-natured character. He was also one of the characters in the Cartoon Network Yes! campaign with part of the name of it being derived from one of his most common phrases, "Yes". His "Yes" is most likely a play on the Marv Albert catch phrase, which is also a "Yes".

Judge Roy Spleen

Voiced by: Phil LaMarr

Judge Roy Spleen is the judge of the underworld court. He and the whole Underworld Court first appeared briefly in the episode Home of the Ancients, but had much more major role in the episode Keeper of the Reaper. He is also seen in Billy & Mandy: Wrath of the Spider Queen as Grim's school teacher and presided over Jeff's wedding in Wrath of the Spider Queen. His name was apparently inspired by the famous judge of the Wild West, Roy Bean.[citation needed] Fred Fredburger is a constant annoyance to him, possibly more to him than any other character.

Nigel Planter

A spoof of Harry Potter, Nigel Planter is a boy with glasses and an "L"-shaped pen-mark on his forehead. He's a young whiny wizard from Weaselthorpe House at Toadblatt's School of Sorcery. He often ends up being beaten up but when not close to danger he shows his full overconfidence and a deluded self image, often taking credit for things he did not do. Later on, his voice begins to crack and he is taller after "going through puberty", another Harry Potter reference. Lord Moldybutt stated that his parents were dead, but this conflicts with One Crazy Summoner when Nigel stated that his father has been held back at Toadblatt's for many years. On rare occasions, it is implied that he held mild romantic affections for Mandy. In the episode Order of The Peanuts, it was stated that Nigel was the last heir to the Planters Peanuts Company giving an explanation to his terrible track record as a wizard.

Dean Toadblatt

Voiced by: John Vernon & Billy West (for Order of the Peanuts)

Dean Toadblatt is the headmaster of Toadblatt's School of Sorcery. Toadblatt is a large, humanoid toad wearing a purple wizard's robe. He appears to be a spoof of Albus Dumbledore, although in One Crazy Summoner, most of his dialog is a parody of Dean Wormer, John Vernon's role in "Animal House" (John Vernon had provided the voice until his death, then Toadblatt was voiced by Billy West). He hates Nigel Planter with a passion, a possible allusion to Severus Snape from Harry Potter. He also looked different in that episode, now possessing a beard. This may be a reference to the death and subsequent replacement of the actor who played Dumbledore in the Harry Potter movies.

Lord Moldybutt

A spoof on the villain in Harry Potter series, Lord Voldemort. He gave Nigel a L-shaped pen mark (which he thought to be a scar) when he was young, referring to Harry Potter's lightning scar. Whenever his name is said, or just the words Moldybutt, great misfortunes happen such as the vicinity becoming completely destroyed. In consequence, people call him "he-who-should-never-ever-be-named". In the episode we find he isn't a villain as has been suggested through the series but actually is just a real-estate agent who has been trying to inform Nigel Planter to his heirship to the Planters Peanut Company. Voiced by John Kassir

The Secret Snake Club

Voiced by: Tom Kenny (Wiggly) Billy West as (Viper and King Cobra)

A Role Playing Group consisting of three nerdy boys at Endsville Elementary who comprise the "Secret Snake Club". The members alias' include Wiggly, Viper (also known as Jerome), and King Cobra. Their main meeting room is Jerome's family's basement, which is actually his grandmother's bedroom. All three wear long red robes, have secret code names and have poor personal hygiene. Each member of the Secret Snake Club has a "level", as they are RPG fanatics. Because of their fanaticism, they have been shown to throw crayons and crumpled-up balls of paper at each other during arguments, all the while shouting "Fireball" and "Lightning bolt". Together they are committed to their dark agenda: summoning snakes which would devour the cool kids, leaving nerds to rule the earth.
