Chad Michael Murray continuously played the lead role in One Tree Hill from the pilot episode until the conclusion of the sixth season, which marked his last as a series regular.

One Tree Hill is an American television series created by writer/producer Mark Schwahn, and was initially broadcast by The WB. After its third season, the WB and UPN merged to form The CW, which is the current broadcaster for the show in the United States. The show features a regular cast of characters, which began with nine main characters in its first season. Since then, characters from that first season have left the show, with new main characters having been both written in and out of the series. In addition, One Tree Hill features guest stars each week, as well as recurring guests that take part in mini story arcs that span a portion of a season. Occasionally, the recurring guest storylines will span multiple seasons. The plot follows Lucas Scott, in the fictional town of Tree Hill, North Carolina, as he joins the Ravens basketball team; it also follows Nathan Scott's journey of becoming a better person. In addition, One Tree Hill chronicles the relationships between Lucas' relationships with his two love interests, Peyton Sawyer and Brooke Davis, as well as his friendship with Haley James.

Alexis "Alex" Dupre

Alex is a fallen starlette that Millicent hires to be the face of Clothes Over Bro's new line. At first, everyone thinks she is a ditzy and promiscuous girl. She later tries to have Julian produce a movie she scripted (although she at first does not disclose that she wrote it) and butts head with Brooke who sees her a potential rival for Julian's attention. She almost ruins her chances of working with Julian by making a move on him, but they later reconcile. She also jumpstarts Millicent's modeling career by drugging a bitchy model, leaving Millie to take her spot. She is fired by Brooke when it is revealed she exposed herself to Julian in her hotel room. Later on, Alex and Millie become quite close, and Alex also tries to become close to Julian. When Julian refuses to be with her, she attempts suicide by slitting her wrists. She survives, still wanting Julian.

Tim Smith

Tim was Nathan's best friend until Nathan married Haley. He then clinged on Nathan and had a hard time adjusting to the fact that Nathan had new friends outside of him. His appearances slowly turned to comic-relief such as when he mistook a pair of female police officers for strippers at a party, insisting on them giving him a show even as they handcuffed him and put him in a police car. He then attended a school for "slower students". In Season 5, he is a pizza-boy, married to Bevin and they have a son named Nathan.

Jake Jagielski

Bryan Greenberg portrays Jake Jagielski through the show's first three seasons, becoming a major love interest for Peyton.

Jake Jagielski, portrayed by Bryan Greenberg in twenty-five episodes between the first three seasons, is a Ravens basketball player who first appears in the pilot episode. He forms a friendship with Lucas, not joining in on the team's hatred towards him. He is the single father to his daughter Jenny, however he had kept her a secret until Lucas convinces him otherwise. He forms a friendship with Peyton as she first offers to watch Jenny during basketball practice and later babysits while he attends his cousin's wedding. He briefly holds a job at Karen's Café, allowing him to take Jenny into work with him if unable to find a babysitter. Jenny's mother, Niki, returns to Tree Hill, hoping to become part of her daughter's life, but Jake wants to have nothing to do with her, considering the fact that she left him and Jenny 9 months ago. Unable to sort their differences, Niki begins a custody battle for Jenny, causing Jake to leave town with the help of Peyton's dad.

In the second season, it is made clear that Peyton has romantic feelings for him, and that she has been e-mailing him without response. Jake returns to Tree Hill when he receives a telephone call from Lucas informing him that Peyton is going through hard times. The two then take a road trip together to collect Jenny from Savannah, Georgia. He and Peyton share their first date upon their return, and later begin a sexual relationship. Niki returns, having been awarded full custody of Jenny, due to Jake not being present at the hearing. He initially hides himself and Jenny from the police, but later turns himself in, with Whitey taking his daughter to Florida. Niki, however, finds Jenny and leaves town with her, causing Jake to leave Tree Hill to find his daughter. In the third season, Peyton visits him in Savannah where he and Niki are awaiting trial to determine who will receive custody. Peyton asks him to marry her, but the two part ways after she states that she loves Lucas in her sleep.

The role of Jake Jagielski was written specifically for Bryan Greenberg, having previously worked with series creator Mark Schwahn on The Perfect Score. Plans for the character to return in the second season were helped by the audience responding well to the character. Schwahn expressed interest in having the character return in the final season. He has approached Greenberg about reprising his role, however noted that Greenberg's busy schedule is likely to prevent any further appearances.

Principal Turner

Principal Turner is the principal at Tree Hill High School. He suspended Peyton for wearing a shirt with "Dyke" painted on it. When the time capsule was released, he asked Whitey if he is sure it is the one from last year. He and Whitey have to turn off the schools power. They eventually send everyone home.

He fired Haley from tutoring when Rachel Gatina pretended that she stole the test papers. Haley was fired because she was the one who tutored Rachel. He also expelled Rachel Gatina for this. When Rachel arrived at prom, he told her she wasn't allowed on school property. She asks, "What are you going to do, expel me?” He told her he’d call the police. She walked away and told him he’d hear from her lawyer about the sexual harassment charges she’d lie about. Dan Scott gave him some alcohol to help him relax. He stopped Haley from being valedictorian because of Nathan's point shaving, however he later changed his mind because he has a wife and he knows he wouldn't like her to be punished for his actions. Brooke tells him that she was the one who stole the test papers; he allows her to graduate. At graduation he also allowed Rachel graduate but she wasn't there.

When Haley first started teaching, she was having a hard time getting her class to respect her, so he sat in on her class to help her.

James "Jimmy" Edwards

Jimmy Edwards is a former Tree Hill High student and a friend of Lucas and Mouth's from the River Court. When Lucas and Mouth started to get close to the 'popular' kids such as Brooke, Nathan, and Peyton, Jimmy felt isolated and started to hate his time at school. He once overdosed on antidepressants because nobody had looked at him or talked to him one day in school, and was gone for 2 weeks. No one ever noticed his absence. After he was humiliated by the time capsule release, he brought a handgun to school and fired a shot putting the school on lockdown. He then held Haley, Nathan, and several other students in the tutor centre before he killed himself. It is believed by everyone that Jimmy also killed Keith, when in fact it was Dan. The truth about Dan comes out eventually.

Shari Smith

Shari Smith is the stepmother of Tim Smith and attended Tree Hill High School with Karen Roe and Dan Scott. Karen later encountered her after Lucas joined the Ravens and discovered she was still as preoccupied with popularity and elitism as she was in her high school years.

Theresa

Bevin Mirskey is portrayed by Bevin Prince in over thirty episodes spanning the first five seasons. Originally intended to be an extra during cheerleading scenes, Prince was later given lines to speak. Her friendship with Brooke is established in season two when Bevin expresses that she is a great captain. Bevin dates Skills in seasons 3 and 4, but breakup after the relationship not working out throughout the missing years. She is not very bright, but she reveals in series 4 that she only acts dumb for people to rely on her in that way. In season 5, we see that she is married to Tim Smith, who is also not smart, and they have a son named Nathan. She now works in a department store.

Jenny Jagielski

Jenny Jagielski is the daughter of Jake Jagielski and Nicki and is at the center of their vicious custody battle. After Nicki threatened to take Jenny from Jake, he fled with his daughter and the two eventually settled in Savannah. She called Peyton 'Mama' when Peyton went to Savannah to visit Jake and Jenny. She is currently in Savannah under the joint custody of Jake and Nicki - Jake gets her 2 days out of the week, Nikki gets her the rest.

Larry Sawyer

Larry Sawyer is the adoptive father of Peyton Sawyer who raised her alone after the death of his wife Anna. He is often away because of his work but he and Peyton maintain a close relationship and talk frequently. He is very over-protective of his daughter and, to an extent, Brooke as well.

Dr. Hale

Dr. Hale is the doctor who was assigned to Lucas' rehabilitation after his car accident. After he recovered she continued to work at the hospital in Tree Hill, diagnosing Haley's pregnancy a year later.

Nicki

Nicki first appeared as a girl who had a one night stand with Lucas. She wanted to get involved in her daughter's life but Jake wouldn't let her. She told him that she would get to Jenny with or without him. She tried to use Brooke to find out where he was but was fooled into going to Seattle while he was actually in Savannah. She returned in Season 2, saying she had earned custody of Jenny through a trial which Jake didn't attend because he was in hiding. When Jake refused to give Jenny to her and turned himself in to the police because there was a warrant out for his arrest, she still managed to locate her and take her away. Jake then chased after her and in Season 3, it is revealed that they both live in Savannah and will continue to share custody until the next trial.

Jimmy James

Jimmy James is the patriach of the James family and the father of Haley, Quinn, Taylor, Vivian and several other children. Easy going, he puts the happiness of his children and wife before anything else showcased when he fully supported Haley's decision to marry during her junior year. He and Lydia are currently touring America in an RV. In Season 7, it was revealed by a visit from Lydia that Jimmy had died several years prior. He died in the 4 year gap between seasons 4 and 5.

Lydia Brigard-James

Lydia James (née Brigard) is the matriach of the James family and the mother of Haley, Quinn, Taylor, Vivian and several other children. She fully supported Haley's decision to marry during her junior year, opposing the views of Nathan's mother Deb but it was a decision she made because her children's happiness is very important to her. She and Jimmy are currently touring America in an RV. In Season 7, Lydia visits her daughters, Haley, Taylor and Quinn and it is revealed that her husband had died several years prior and that she has Pancreatic Cancer and is dying, but wants to spend her remaining time with daughters rather than fight it. This causes Taylor to leave. She also rents a photography studio for Quinn, encouraging her to chase her dreams. Lydia's condition worsened and she was hospitalized. Quinn talked to Taylor, asking her to visit their mother and Taylor eventually did. Taylor eventually apologized for her behavior and Lydia then told her that out of all of her kids, Taylor reminded her the most of a younger version of herself. Haley, Nathan, Quinn, Taylor, Jamie & Clay then stayed with Lydia and she eventually passed away. She was cremated and her ashes were scattered by Haley, Quinn & Taylor.

Andy Hargrove

Andy was a teacher at Karen's college, who happens to be extremely wealthy, as he had quit a successful CEO job after a car accident with a woman which worked as a wake-up call. The two began dating but after his mother became ill, he returned to New Zealand. He was a suspect in the attempted murder of Dan. Karen visited him but they broke up because she didn't want to have children. However, they were engaged in Season 5; Karen now has a child, Lily, and Keith, who was shot by Dan in the high school shooting in season 3 is the father.

It is assumed he is still living on his boat with Karen and Lily, and have been joined by Lucas, Peyton and Sawyer, since Lucas' house is being used by Julian for his movie shoot.

Felix Taggaro

• Played by: Michael Copon
• Seasons: 2

Felix is Anna's brother and dated Brooke Davis. He was Lucas's new rival because of those two facts and they never saw eye-to-eye. He painted "dyke" on Peyton's locker to protect his bisexual sister from what he believed to only be rumors. Brooke dumped him when she found out about the locker and he was later sent to military school.

Rick

Rick is a local band manager who agreed to support Peyton's all ages nightclub Tric, offering her drugs in the process. He eventually ceased any involvement with Tric after Karen kicked him out, having discovered his drug usage in her club.

Anna Taggaro

• Played by: Daniella Alonso
• Seasons: 2

Daniella Alonso portrays Anna Taggaro, who moves to Tree Hill to escape rumors that she has been having a relationship with another girl. She is first introduced in season two’s "I Will Dare", when she helps Lucas escape the security guards at the local mall. The two then go to a pizzeria together. She and Lucas watch a meteor shower which her brother Felix disapproves of. They decide to take things slow becoming ‘friends with potential’, however she offers him sex after a formal dance, which he turns down due to not being in love with her. Lucas ends the relationship after realizing that he has feelings for Brooke, however the two remain friends as she confides her sexuality to him. Anna forms a strong relationship with Peyton and kisses her after misreading the signs. When she discovers that Felix wrote ‘dyke’ on Peyton’s locker she turns him in getting him expelled. She comes out to him and states how hurt she is by his use of the word. Anna decides that she should stop running from who she is and comes out to her parents, and eventually leaves Tree Hill to re-join her previous school.

"Her use of the word 'gay' instead of 'bisexual' wasn't meant to imply that Anna is not bisexual. If I had known the word bisexual was more taboo, we may have gone in that direction. For me, it seemed like Felix was so homophobic, that for her to say 'I’m gay' to him felt even stronger for her."

When creating characters for the second season, Mark Schwahn had wanted to add a family, which the addition of Anna and Felix allowed him to do. Once casting Daniella Alonso, he refrained from telling her that the rumors were true, however once informing her on her character’s back story it was like “flipping a switch” as she knew what to play. The character was made bisexual as opposed to a lesbian so that her past could be kept secret. Anna was presented as a romantic interest for Lucas, "[Schwahn] thought if she was strictly a lesbian character, that would be really out of nature for her, and a little disingenuous to lesbians," and they needed to hide what her journey was going to be. Alonso feels that the audience was not receptive to the character initially—especially with a large portion of the audience wanting Brooke and Lucas to be together—however over the course of her arc they began to accept Anna.

Emily "Jules" Chambers

Jules (real name Emily Chambers) is a woman who Dan paid to make Keith fall in love with her and then break his heart, as way to get revenge on him for sleeping with Deb. She took the "job" to pay for hospital bills she had from being regularly beaten up by her boyfriend. She actually did fall in love with Keith, but left on their wedding day after Karen blackmailed her.

Chris Keller

• Played by: Tyler Hilton
• Seasons: 2, 3, 4

Tyler Hilton prepared for the role by purchasing the show's first season on DVD.

Tyler Hilton appears as Chris Keller in sixteen episodes spanning across seasons two, three and four. He is introduced when Peyton asks to put up a flyer in the record shop which he works at. He later shows up for the auditions to perform at Tric'. With Peyton being impressed by his audition, he agrees to perform, however leaves the stage with the intention that Haley would have to perform in his absence. Impressed by Haley's talent he invites her to share some studio time, and the two record a cover to Ryan Adams' When the Stars Go Blue. Upon finding out that the two worked together, Nathan threatens Chris warning him not to take advantage of her. He later kisses Haley and invites her to join him on tour, which she initially accepts however backs out last minute. He returns to Tree Hill whilst touring and convinces Haley to join him on tour.

He returns in the third season when Nathan asks him to help Haley with her song writing. Following getting drunk with Brooke, the two sleep together, causing problems in her relationship with Lucas. With no money to pay for Haley's music masters from the studio, he and Nathan play poker to gain money. However the two become stranded with no money, leading Chris to sell his guitar to pay the studio. He then leaves Tree Hill on good terms with Nathan. He later appears while the gang are in Honeygrove rescuing Mouth.

Tyler Hilton was awarded the role for playing his song Glad with Mark Schwahn seeing that he was right for the part by the first chorus. Hilton watched the show's first season to know more about the show having never seen an episode. Hilton enjoys being able to play his music live on the show as music is such a large part of One Tree Hill. Schwahn notes that the audience initially thought the character was there for Peyton, and were praising him for his confidence, however when they learned he was there for Haley to break up her marriage they began hating him.

Taylor James

Taylor James is Haley's, Vivian's and Quinn's sister. She comes to Tree Hill in season 2, and stays in Nathan and Haley's apartment.It is revealed that Nathan lost his virginity to Taylor. When Haley is constantly absent because of her music career, Taylor is stirring up trouble with Nathan. Taylor takes him to a bar, where she dances with other women on the table. Nothing happens though, and Nathan returns to Tree Hill. She returns in season 7, episode 13 with Quinn's ex-husband David, who she is dating. She, along with Haley and Quinn are visited by their mother, Lydia, who reveals that she has pancreatic cancer and is dying. When Lydia tells the girls that she doesn't want to spend the remainder of her life in a hospital, Taylor gets angry and believes her mother is giving up. Haley later finds her packing and despite her attempts to persuade Taylor to stay, Taylor leaves. When Lydia collapses and ends up in the hospital, Quinn comes to try and convince her to come see their mother, but Taylor angrily refuses in tears, but Quinn leaves a picture of her, Taylor and Haley when they were close as kids and Taylor ends up going to the hospital to see Lydia. Taylor is told by Lydia that out of all her children she reminds Lydia the most of a younger version of herself. She, Quinn, Haley, Nathan, Jamie and Clay are present when Lydia dies and she along with her sisters, scatter her ashes.

Erica Marsh

Cooper Lee

Cooper is Nathan Scott's uncle and Deb Lee's brother. He first came to town to cheer-up Nathan after his break-up with Haley. He then came back to protect Deb from Dan and dated Rachel Gatina. He tried to end it when he found out she was 17. The two then drove off a bridge but survived. Cooper moved back home.

Elizabeth "Ellie" Harp

Elizabeth "Ellie" Harp was a cocaine addict when she got pregnant with Peyton and decided to give her up; Peyton was adopted by Anna and Larry Sawyer. She agreed not to have any contact with her daughter, but she later decided she wanted to see her and finally managed to at the end of season 2. Ellie is a writer and pretends to be doing a magazine article on Peyton so they can meet up. When Peyton calls the magazine they tell her there is no-one called Ellie Harp working there, and they know nothing about the article. Peyton begins getting creepy emails from "WATCHMEWATCHU" and assumes they are from Ellie. Ellie shows up on Peyton's door and tells her that she is her mother, and she didn't send any emails. At first, Peyton didn't believe her or trust her, especially after Lucas Scott caught her buying drugs. However, it was revealed that she was dealing with a recurrence of breast cancer, and that the pills were actually for medical purposes. Peyton was about to change her mind after finding out about Ellie's condition but they fought again when Peyton found that she wrote an article about her. She told her to go away, calling her a liar. Haunted by dreams about her "Angel of Death" persona, Peyton found Ellie again and they bonded. They decided to make a CD to promote Haley's new song and raise funds to fight breast cancer. They finally managed to finish the CD but Ellie died the day the records were ready. Peyton spread her ashes on a place where Ellie had been to a music festival, the best thing she remembered aside from her time with Peyton.

Tony Battle

Pete from Fall Out Boy

Pete Wentz is a member of the band Fall Out Boy who performed twice at Tric, including a performance at Peyton's breast cancer benefit concert. After bonding with Peyton he joined the group during a weekend getaway to Rachel's cabin in the woods. He began a short relationship with Peyton, but this didn't work out as on her way to visit him in Chicago she met Jake and left with him instead.

Gigi Silveri

Gigi became an announcer for ravenshoops.com to replace Jimmy Edwards at the beginning of Season 3. She dated Mouth for a while. In high school, she was quite shy and kind, as well as smart; in college, she is upbeat, girlie and slutty. She returned in Season 6 as Mouth's intern, stirring up some drama between him and Millicent.

Abigail "Abby" Brown

Glenda Farrell

Glenda Farrell is a former Tree Hill High student and a confident of Lucas Scott who he befriended in his senior year after he was paired with her during his senior year at school. She is the first to read Lucas' final draft of his first novel, An Unkindness of Ravens.

Ian "Psycho Derek" Banks

Ian Banks was Peyton's online stalker, and had a psycho obsession with her. Ian pretended to be Peyton's brother Derek in order to get close to her, but when she found out the truth about him he attempted to rape her and was stopped by Lucas and the real Derek. After that, Peyton believed Ian to be in prison but on prom night she and Brooke Davis were held hostage by him and attacked. The two managed to fight him off and he is put in the hospital, and then finally sent to prison. After some research, Peyton and Brooke discover that Ian had been mentally ill ever since his girlfriend, Maggie, who looked like Peyton, died in a car crash that he caused by messing around at the wheel.

Shelly Simon

Shelly was introduced as a girl who wanted to prevent Brooke from having an abortion, although it was later revealed that Brooke wasn't pregnant at all. Glenda told Brooke that although Shelly was the Clean Teens' leader and a "virgin for life", she used to be promiscuous, and Brooke found out that Shelly had had an abortion after getting pregnant at a Christian camp. Shelly tried to get Rachel Gatina and Brooke Davis to join Clean Teens as well, which they did as an alibi on the night they stole a Calculus test. Shelly soon fired Rachel, as she fell somewhat short of the Clean Teens' ideals. In "Pictures of You" Shelly called Mouth a geek. They had to pair up for an assignment, and got to know each other in the process. Mouth asked her to the prom and Shelly said yes. They kissed. Shelly took Mouth's virginity in "Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers" but left in horror at having broken her own rules. She reappeared at the graduation party after dissolving Clean Teens; she made up with Mouth, who later defended her from a guy who insulted her. They do not rekindle their love, but Shelly remains friends with most of Tree Hill High's girls.

Derek Sommers

Derek is the biological half-brother of Peyton. Lucas is startled to discover that Peyton's brother was black, but ultimately this wasn't much of a discussion point. He rescues Peyton and Lucas from Psycho Derek. While Psycho Derek escaped from Peyton's house, Peyton didn't feel safe anymore and closed herself up in the house. Derek returns and teaches her kickboxing, for her anger to deal with. With succes, because when Psycho Derek returns, Peyton uses her lessons to beat Psycho Derek. and this may have attributed in getting Psycho Derek in jail. Peyton goes with Derek to the senior's party at Tree Hill High, and he meets the others. Derek left to go back to the marine. Peyton meets up with him several times after that, and organises an USO concert for him and his teammates as a thank you gift. thank you

Nick Chavez

Nick Chavez is a former English teacher and model who started to date Brooke Davis until he discovered she was a student at Tree Hill High School, and she discovered he was her new teacher. They continued their affair secretly until Brooke caught Nick cheating on her. He subsequently left the school and resigned his post.

Daunte Jones

Daunte is a loan shark who lends Nathan money when he is desperately in need and is shut out by Dan. When Nathan fails to repay the loan, Daunte corners Nathan in an alley and roughs him up, telling him to fix the final margin of the Tree Hill Ravens' semifinal playoff game. With Tree Hill winning by nine points (the spread was 10), Lucas misses a free throw at the end of the game to help Nathan. Not satisfied, Daunte orders Nathan to throw the state championship game, rejecting Dan's pleas to settle the issue. Nathan plays poorly in the first half, as the Ravens fall behind by as many as 21 points. At halftime, Lucas and Skills concot a plan to freeze Nathan out and allow the Ravens to come back. However, as Nathan is leaving the locker room, he encounters Haley, who had been rushed to a hospital in Raleigh when she collapsed. At the hospital, it is revealed Haley is expecting a baby boy. Nathan immediately begins playing better for his unborn son, and the Ravens win the state championship on Lucas' game-winning shot. Following a party in Tree Hill after the game, Daunte attempts to run over Nathan with his car, but instead hits Haley after she pushed her husband out of the way. Daunte loses control and crashes, and Nathan beats Daunte senseless. Dan turns himself in for the apparent murder, but all charges are dropped after it was revealed Daunte was dead after his car crashed.

Chase was another member of the Clean Teens who got close to Brooke after she and Rachel joined the Clean Teens. Brooke, after earning a high grade in a test by cheating, agreed to tutor Chase, who initially had no idea of how Brooke really got the grade and they begin to date. When he found out that Brooke cheated he forgave her and they continued to date. Brooke and Chase attended a party at Nathan's mom's house and everyone found out that Nathan and Brooke filmed a sex tape. He visited Brooke while she was setting up for prom and told her that his ex-girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend. He told her that it's over between them, but he knows how important prom is to her so they will still go together. Brooke told him it's over because she didn't want to be with someone who doesn't want to be with her. Chase later bumped into Brooke at school, he had been calling her after he heard about her being tied up by Ian "WATCHMEWATCHU" Banks. He was no longer wearing his 'Clean Teens' t-shirt and it is revealed that he still has feelings for Brooke, as she does for him. After a heartfelt confession, Chase and Brooke decided to get back together. In the finale, Brooke and Chase took their relationship to the next level and had sex in the backseat of his car. Chase said "it was the best 60 seconds" of his life. Four years later, he was friends with Owen and came back to Tree Hill for Lucas' bachelor party (before his wedding with Lindsay), unwittingly getting set up with Peyton, which they used to make Lucas and Brooke jealous. Chase told Brooke that Owen was not returning to Tree Hill, marking the end to Owen and Brooke's relationship. Chase returns to Tree Hill to discover Owen has slipped back into his previous ways, and offers to take over his job working at TRIC until Owen regains sobriety. Chase then asks Mia out on a date, which ends with them having their first kiss in Peytons studio. He was also the inspiration for Mia's new song for her second album. They are currently still dating and he has started taking flight lessons. He has also been promoted to bar manager at Tric.

Lily Roe Scott

Lily is the daughter of Keith Scott and Karen Roe, born the same day as her nephew, James Lucas Scott, in the season 4 finale. The name Lily comes to Karen while she is in a coma following her birth, when she dreams of Keith and he tells her, "Look for me in the lilies". Andy Hargrove is Lily's surrogate father as they travel the world with Karen. Lily, Karen and Andy returned to Tree Hill for Lucas' (aborted) wedding to Lindsey, and Lucas spent a month with them at sea after he was left at the altar. Lily gained a sister-in-law, Peyton Sawyer, when she married Lucas, and became an aunt when Peyton gave birth to Sawyer Brooke Scott.

Victoria Anne Montgomery-Davis

Victoria Davis is married to Richard Davis and is the mother of Brooke Davis. She is the former CEO of Clothes Over Bros. She moved from LA because her husband moved around a lot. Brooke felt that they were hiding the fact that it was a trial separation. She came up with many ideas to take Clothes over Bros. to the next level including introducing a formal line and a magazine called b. Davis. She misinterpreted Lucas showing Brooke an engagement ring, as the two getting engaged and told Brooke that she would have annulment papers drawn up fast. She felt that Brooke should be focusing on the company and not ‘boys with rings,’ and reminded her that the company is called Clothes over Bros. Brooke told Victoria that she was ready to take the company to the next level and Victoria replied that they were going to have everything that they ever wanted. She told Brooke that she would like her to call her Victoria, because 'Mom' makes her sound too old. Later on she tried to control Brooke's decision over COB's future as the CEO of the brand (the opening of the Tree Hill boutique and Peyton's label) but ended up alienating her daughter by repeatedly rejecting her. Brooke fired her mother after she went behind her back to scare Rachel off. At the beginning of Season 6 she returned to inform Brooke that she is part owner of Clothes Over Bros and although Brooke protested, she informed her that designers come and go, but the CEO remains the same. She threatened to go to the board to have Brooke removed or there start a legal battle over the company. Brooke countered by telling her that the new line is going to ensure that Victoria will be fired and Brooke will own the company in full. Victoria later arrived at Clothes Over Bros to scare the sketches for the new line out of Millicent who refused calling her "an evil bitch" to which Victoria replied, "You're going to pay for that". Later that night as Brooke was locking up the store a masked assailant attacked her, brutally injuring her and stealing the computer, money out of the register and the sketches for Brooke's new line. It is speculated that Victoria hired the assailant as a way to steal the sketches with the cover of a robbery so Brooke would be unable to go to the police.

Brooke later confronted her about the attack/robbery to which Victoria vehemently denied any involvement in. She was shocked to see that Brooke carries a gun with her and explained that she never wanted a child, that she wanted everything Brooke has and that when she couldn't have it, she decided to end her husband's dream of having a son. Brooke was disgusted with her mother and gave the company over to Victoria who subsequently fired Millicent and closed the Tree Hill Clothes Over Bros store. Victoria returns to Tree Hill after "Clothes over Bros" is failing without Brooke's' help. She manages to convince Brooke to come back with a 51% share, and after previously being hated by Sam because of her unkindness, also manages to befriend Sam, as shown at the end when she comforts Sam while she cries over Jack's departure. At the end of season 6, she and Brooke reconciles when Victoria admits she should have loved her more than she loved the company. She returns in the seventh season and onsantly picks up on the slight romantic feelings between Julian and Alex Dupre and warns her daughter to be careful. She and Brooke eventually clash once more over the future of the company. Victoria is the one who also learns of Millicent's drug addiction and one night when she and Alex leave TRIC, she calls the cops and reports Millie as a drunk driver and she is arrested. However, just when Millie is about to have the book thrown at her, Victoria comes to her defense and gets her off, as well as offering her old job back as long as she kicks the habit and never steals from C/B again. She then hires a new designer for the companies new men's line "Clothes 4 Bros" named Alexander Coin. Victoria also speaks to Julian and tells him to fight for Brooke as their relationship begins to dissolve. She and her daughter then have another heart to heart where Victoria admits that she is getting "soft."

Lindsey Evelyn Strauss

Lindsey Evelyn Strauss was Lucas' book-editor and ex-fiancée. When she started to edit his book, they fell in love with each other. She came to Tree Hill when Lucas had writers block. She felt threatened when Brooke and Peyton returned to Tree Hill, knowing Lucas' history with the two girls. She eventually tried to be friendly to the two girls but Peyton didn't trust her. Later, when Peyton apologised, she agreed to go with Lucas to the opening of Brooke's store. But when she found out that Peyton still had feelings for Lucas, she asked him to stop seeing her. After Lucas kissed Peyton, he proposed to Lindsey, and she said yes. She asked Haley, whom she had befriended, to be her maid of honor and asked Brooke to make her dress. When she got stuck in the Tree Hill Library with Haley, Brooke, Peyton and Mia, she told them her father died from cancer and she had to take him off the ventilator because her mother was too destroyed to do it. The night before the wedding she read Lucas' second novel. At the wedding she realized the book was about Peyton, Lucas' 'Comet', and left Lucas at the altar. Four weeks later Lucas returned to her, she said she still loved Lucas but she can't be with him. She returned for Jamie's fifth birthday party and after the party she went to Lucas' house to get her last stuff and to give her key back. She later tells him she is dating someone and gave him his book, telling him he can email her the dedication. When he did, she realized she still loved him and confessed that she lied about seeing someone else. She later learned from Lucas that he and Peyton are engaged. She never shows up at the launch of Lucas's second book but sent someone else in her place.

Quentin Christopher Fields

• Played by: Robbie Jones
• Seasons: 5, 6

Quentin Christopher Fields was a member of the Tree Hill Ravens. He harassed Haley on her first day, and provoked her to fail him for the quarter on her second day, effectively preventing him from joining the revamped Ravens. He quit school, but thanks to Haley's inability to give up on him and a speech from Nathan about how Quentin might lose everything just like he did, he went back to both Haley's classes and the team. His jersey number for the Tree Hill Ravens is #44. After hitting Jason to "defend Haley's honor" he suffered from a hand fracture, compromising his chances to be recruited by a college's basketball team. However, after a change of strategy by the Ravens, he became their point guard, even with a broken hand. In episode 2 of Season 6, he was shot and killed by an assailant when he accidentally discovered a murder while paying for gas. It is later revealed there is a connection between Quentin's murder and Brooke Davis' attack at Clothes Over Bros. The assailant is the brother (The brother's name is X) of Quentin's classmate (Brooke's foster child) Sam Walker's friend Jack (he also attacked Brooke at her store for Sam). His jersey #44 was retired by Tree Hill High (joining the #23 jersey of Nathan and #1 jersey for Whitey, but replacing the #33 jersey worn by Dan, whose number was un-retired after his murder conviction), and as a tribute to Quentin, the Ravens played with only four players the rest of the season.

Following his death, Quentin appears as a ghost to Nathan, urging him to follow his dreams of reaching the NBA. When Nathan is called up to the Charlotte Bobcats, he goes to the cemetery to leave his Bobcats jersey on Quentin's grave. Nathan wrote his initials "QF" and jersey number "44" one one sneaker, writing the intials of Jamie (JLS) and his favorite number (12) on the other shoe.

He is briefly mentioned by Jamie in the season 7 when he mentions the people he misses. Jamie and Nathan are in Lucas' house at the time while Julian, Brooke and Alex are at work on the movie.

John Knight

John Knight was the label producer of the record label that Peyton Sawyer worked for during her four years in LA. He once, like her, had a passion for music but working in the industry convinced him it was nothing more than just an industry. John later signed Mia Catalano, an act from Peyton's label, to his and some two years later he and Miranda Stone tried to shut down Red Bedroom Records but were forced to give in when Mia threatened to leave their roster.

Carrie

• Played by: Torrey DeVitto
• Seasons: 5, 6

Carrie first appeared in season 5 as Jamie's nanny. At first, everyone thought she was really nice and bonded well with Jamie. He becomes like a son to her (something that causes problems later on). But she soon started to flirt with Nathan behind Haley's back, something that he frequently told her to stop and ends up kissing him. Haley comes home one night to see Nathan and Carrie in the bathroom, wet from a shower. Nathan tries to explain that Carrie came into the shower while he was in it and tried to get her out, but Haley doesn't listen. She grabs Carrie by the hair and drags out of the bathroom and tells her that she's fired.

Nathan tries to reconcile with her by saying it was Carrie that was flirting, not him. Haley gets even more upset when Nathan blurts out that she kissed him. This causes an argument between the two and at that time, Jamie falls into the pool and almost drowns. After Nathan pulls him out of the water, Haley tells him she wants a divorce and Nathan temporarily moves out. Carrie comes back a few episodes later to get her stuff and to say goodbye to Jamie. After Carrie leaves, Jamie tells Haley that he hates her and runs to his room, but he eventually says he's sorry.

Carrie isn't seen again until Lucas and Lindsey's wedding. This time, she's disguised herself by dying her hair dark, almost resembling Haley's hair color. She's with the wedding orchestra and one of the players asks if she'd be more comfortable sitting down front. Carrie says no and that her son is the wedding (referring to Jamie).

When Jamie asks Skills to go the bathroom, Carrie approaches him. He's thrilled to see her again and Carrie says that she's here because his mom and dad said she could see him again. She then attempts to take him out of the church, but Jamie is hesitant. Carrie reassures him that it's okay and the two of them quickly leave the church. However, she doesn't realize that Dan is sitting in his car across the street and follows them.

Later on, everyone stars to realize that Jamie has been missing for a long time. At first, they think Dan took him because Haley told Nathan that he was at the church earlier. Nathan runs out into the street to stop an oncoming cop car. Nathan is outraged when the cops don't listen to him about Jamie and harasses him for running in front of the car like he did. Nathan finally gets them to listen by saying that his son is missing and that he thinks he's with Dan and tells him that Dan had recently gotten out of jail for murder. The cops get a physical description of Jamie and send out an APB on Dan.

Meanwhile, Carrie has taken Jamie to a hotel and is getting ready to dye his hair so he can look like her. Jamie asks "Won't Mama be mad?" and Carrie says no and then quietly says to herself "Besides, I'm your mama now." She leaves to go get the hair dye and when she's gone, Dan goes to the window and tells Jamie that he's here to take him home and to trust him so he'll open the door.

When Carrie comes back, she thinks Jamie is playing hide and seek so she playfully tries to call him out. Suddenly, Dan lunges at her and pins her against the wall by her neck. He tells her who he is and that if she ever comes after his family again, he'll kill her. To prove his point, he tells her that he murdered Keith out of cold blood and won't hesitate for a second to kill her. Dan takes Jamie home, where everyone is anxiously awaiting for any word from the police. Haley and Nathan rush to Jamie and hug him when they see him walk into the room. Jamie says that he's okay because Dan saved him. Everyone is silent as Dan slowly enters the room.

The next time Carrie is seen is in the season 6 premiere. It turns out that she was the one who hit Dan with a car in last season's finale and was holding him hostage as a way to lure Jamie to her. When Dan tries to escape, he comes across a mysterious grave. From the looks of it, it's the grave of a child. Carrie appears and before hitting him in the head with a shovel, she angrily tells him to not touch her son. When Dan comes to, he realizes that the grave was of Carrie's own son who died when he was around Jamie's age which explained why she was so obsessed with him. Dan tells her that her plan to get Jamie will never work. Carrie says that it already is.

Carrie poses as a nurse with a British accent who says that Dan is near death and is wishing to see Jamie. Haley gets the address and takes Jamie with her. Once they arrive, she tells him to wait in the car while she checks everything out. Once inside, she realizes that something is up once she sees Dan restrained to the bed. She starts undoing the restraints and tries to wake Dan up. He tries to warn by saying"Get Jamie", but Haley is confused by what he means and asks what's going on. Dan then sees Carrie sneaking up behind Haley and before he can warn her, Carrie hits Haley on the head, knocking her unconscious.

Jamie, who is still in the car, stars looking around for Haley when he's startled by Carrie who sweetly tells him to unlock the door. Jamie refuses and says he wants his mom. Carrie angrily tells him that she is his mommy and to unlock the door. Jamie refuses again and Carrie goes and retrieves an ax and smashes the window. But Jamie has gotten out of the car and is running towards the cornfield. Carrie gives chase and Jamie manages to hide in a part of the field. Carrie sweetly tells Jamie that she's sorry for getting mad and to come out because she "has something for him." It turns out to be a full syringe of a sedative. Jamie starts running again, but someone quickly covers his mouth and pulls him into the cornstalks. For a second, Jamie is petrified, but he relaxes when it turns to be Haley who tells him that it's her. The two of them manage to stay hidden, but then Haley's phone rings. Carrie hears it and closes in them. Haley shuts her phone off and then tells Jamie to run. The two of them take off, Carrie not far behind them.

Before they get to the house, Carrie is stopped by Deb who smashes a bottle in her face, knocking her out. Haley asks how she knew where they were and Deb said she knew something was up when she saw the address: Dan hates the woods. Relieved, Haley and Deb start laughing as Deb complains that bottle she used held a scotch that she was saving for the day she was rid of Dan for good. Suddenly, Carrie lunges up with the ax and comes at Haley, but is stopped when Dan shoots her. Haley and Deb look at him in shock and Dan says "God, I hate the woods."

Later on, Carrie's eyes snap open and she starts laughing. Dan is standing there and he asks her if she remembers what he said. He tells her again that he said that he would kill her if she ever came after his family again. Carrie then mocks him by saying that he hasn't and never will. Dan just gives a small smile and then points the gun at her again. He fires another shot and then screen goes blank. It's assumed that the last shot did indeed kill her.

Alice Day

Alice was Mouth's first boss at the television station. She detested Mouth, and to win her favor, he boldly kissed her unprovoked in the control room. Eventually, Mouth and Alice began a secret relationship, but when Alice tried to take it into the open at Tric, Mouth was on a blind date with Millicent. Alice is fired, and Mouth soon begins a relationship with Millicent.

Mia Catalano was a member of Jason's band, she played the keyboard. She was the only member to stay after Haley kicked Jason out and became Peyton's label's only artist. After being freaked out by Victoria she came back with the realization that music is about talking to people not money. She then overcame her demons when she played at TRIC in front of Jason and a whole crowd. She was approached by Peyton's former boss but tricked him into launching her under Peyton's label. After returning from tour she admits to Peyton that she is unable to write anything for the label. Haley begins to help her write again and she starts dating Chase. In season 7, she hardballs Miranda Stone by threatening to not record if Red Bedroom Records is shut down. Miranda relents and agrees to work with Haley and Mia to keep the label going.

Jason

Jason is a member of the first band signed to Red Bedroom Records by Peyton Sawyer. He revealed that he was a former addict, and has been clean for eight years. He is friends with Chase. Owen returned in Season 6 and apologized to Brooke, asking for a second chance. He also was Nathan's teammate while playing Slam Ball. He started drinking again and had a one night stand with Millicent, he eventually left for rehab, leaving the bar in Chase's hands.

Olivia

Olivia is the therapist of Nathan and Haley, when they were in the middle of their divorce. She gives crucial comments to the couple, and with this, Nathan and Haley get back together. Brooke visits with Olivia upon Haley's advice following the attack at Clothes over Bros.

Angie is the child who Brooke fostered in order for her to receive care for her heart condition. Sam is a troubled young girl who shoplifted a top from Clothes over Bros and had an altercation with Brooke. She joined Haley's literature class and Haley encouraged her to write but their relationship was very rocky. In the 6th episode of Season 6 it is revealed that she was a foster child and that she slept in a car in the workshop at Tree Hill High. Brooke later offered her a room at her home to stay in after being urged by Haley to foster Sam. Sam and Brooke develop a close relationship which is strengthened after Brooke saves Sam from Jack's criminal brother, whom Brooke realizes was the guy who attacked her in her store (also learning that he'd shot Quentin Fields). Later, both Sam and Haley inform Brooke of the positive effect she's had in Sam's life. Sam leaves Brooke's care at the end of Season 6 to rejoin her birth mother.

Xavier "Ex" Daniels

Robert "Bobby" Irons

Bobby Irons is the coach of the Charlston Chiefs, the team Nathan played on while trying to make it to the NBA. He initially offered Nathan a coaching position but allowed him to play after he trialed with the team and Nathan proved his worth as a player. After months of coaching Nathan he eventually revealed that his player had been drafted to the NBA as he became one of the Charlotte Bobcats.

Chuck Scolnik

He is lactose intolerant. He vomits over Skills and Miss Lauren while the two are babysitting Chuck on a date.

In season 7, Chuck goes on a camping trip with Jamie, Nathan, Skills, Mouth and Julian and becomes scared by noises in the wilderness.

Chuck is revealed not to be very good at playing video games. When he plays Jamie in a basketball video game as Nathan, Chuck is getting beat badly. When Nathan takes over his video game likeness, he begins to heat up and dominates Chuck.

Adam Reese is an eccentric movie director who was hired by Paul Norris to direct Lucas and Julian's ill-fated adaptation of Lucas' novel. Eccentric and egotistical, Lucas greatly disagreed with Dixon directing the film because he felt that he couldn't do the story and the characters justice. Reese proved himself to be exactly what Lucas thought of him when he chose to celebrate getting paid for doing nothing after the movie was shut down, while Lucas and Julian were more mournful.

Principal Rimkus

Principal Rimkus succeeded Principal Turner at Tree Hill High. She and Haley clash when Haley wants to publish an essay written by Sam in the school newspaper. Missy

Missy is the actress who was hired to play Brooke Davis in the illfated film adaption of Lucas's novel. Sawyer Brooke Scott

Sawyer Brooke Scott is the daughter of Lucas Scott and Peyton Sawyer. Peyton initially has severe abdominal pains; fearing the worst, she visits the doctor. Upon finding out she’s pregnant, both she and Lucas are ecstatic to be starting their family. A few months into the pregnancy, Peyton collapses again. This time doctors diagnose placenta previa; a condition that carries the risk of possible death to mother and/or child during pregnancy or delivery. Lucas supports the suggestion of termination, not wanting to lose Peyton or condemn their child to growing up motherless, but Peyton fights against it. In the end, they decide to continue the pregnancy, a decision strengthened when they feel the baby kick for the first time. The pregnancy is further complicated when Peyton is involved in a car accident. Both mom and baby are fine, but now confined to bed rest, giving Peyton the time to create a ‘memory box’ and a video tape for a “just in case” scenario…something Lucas doesn’t appreciate her considering. The baby is born slightly prematurely, when at approximately eight months along. The night after their wedding, Lucas finds Peyton unconscious and bleeding on their bedroom floor. He rushes her to the hospital where she undergoes an emergency C-section. The baby is healthy and released to go home with Lucas as Peyton is now in a coma from the shock to her body. “Baby Girl Scott” remains nameless for the first four days until Peyton wakes and tells Lucas their daughter’s name is Sawyer. Sawyer is carried in by her grandma, Karen Roe (Lucas' mom), to meet her mom for the first time; resulting in a tearfully happy Peyton vowing to "love her forever". The middle name is derived from Peyton’s life-long best friend, Brooke Davis, decided on when Peyton watches Brooke interact with the baby. Sawyer is briefly held by her paternal grandfather, Dan Scott (who Lucas despises), when he approaches Peyton while she’s alone with the baby. There’s a small time jump within the episode, to when Sawyer is about seven months old and can stand with the help of her father. Viewers last see Sawyer Scott grinning from her car-seat in the back of the Comet as she drives off with her parents in the season 6 finale.

She has, however, maintained her ruthless work ethic with Haley in spite of her personal problems, refusing to let her take days off work which is a distraction Haley appreciates.

She then sets up Haley, who hits her in front of the paparazzi, but later drop the charges after giving Haley a phone number, which is on Nathan's phone listings. She then meets with Dan Scott. The day that Renee appears on the show, Nathan becomes enraged and goes outside, where Haley convinces him that they shouldn't watch the rest and should enjoy the beautiful day. In a surprising turn of events, Dan submits Renee to a surprise lie detector test, and all of the answers she gives come across true, which appears to shock her. Dan puts on the lie detector gear himself and by stating simple facts, such as "I am the president of the United states," and, "My son loves me," Dan proves that the test is a fake, showing Renee's answers were false. He goads her into revealing that she did have sex the night of the party and got knocked up, but not by Nathan.

Nathan's scandal with Renee eventually affected his endoresement deal and, while filming with Kylie, production was shut down.

Kylie still visits Clay's house to swim in his pool and immediately engages in a feud with Quinn. Quinn pours smoothie in Kylie's hair, and Kylie retaliates by writing "slut" in lipstick on Quinn's car. The two settle their differences at the 80s night dance at Tree Hill High, where Kylie is Mouth's date. The two come to a truce after Kylie gets her hair slammed in a locker by Brooke and Quinn cuts it to free her. Mouth turns down Kylie's proposition for sex, but Kylie appreciates how Mouth is a nice guy, saying there aren't many of them left.

David returns to Tree Hill, in an attempt to win her back. Unfortunately, Quinn was already in love with someone else, and David is left heartbroken. David then began dating Quinn's sister, Taylor, and they soon moved into Haley and Nathan's house with Quinn.

Charlie

Sara Evans is the wife of Clay, who died by a rare condition. Flashbacks established how they met and got together not long after that. They were married for a short time. She had helped Clay loosen up, and she does the same again, when she appears as a ghost to Clay. Clay hasn't reeled from Sara's death, and they talk. Sara tries to explain that it's not Clay's fault and tries to gesture him to Quinn, commenting that he is ready for someone else. Clay doesn't want to let her go, but ultimately does so by grieving her death.
