List of Alpha Sigma Phi chapters, colonies, and interest groups
This is a list of Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity chapters and provisional chapters.[1][2]
Groups are listed generally in order according of the date they chartered into Alpha Sigma Phi. In the case of full merger partners, these are ordered by date of entry into ΑΣΦ, but their chartering dates reflect the dates of their original charter into their earlier national bodies. Active chapters and provisional chapters noted in bold, inactive chapters noted in italics. Multiple chapters came from several ΑΣΦ merger partners. The dates of any predecessor local organization(s) are provided in reference notes. Where no predecessor local is named it may be understood the group came from a colony (or, from 2016 a provisional chapter). Note, the term "colony" was changed to "provisional chapter" at the 2016 Grand Chapter.

Notes
[edit]- ^ The 1907 restoration came from the absorption of the Masonic Club (local) which had originated in 1906.
- ^ In 1932, repeated efforts to devolve the chapter into a local group finally succeeded. The successor, named after its street number address, 54 Dunster Street, was the short-lived "54 Club".
- ^ a b c This chapter was originally placed at Amherst College, where it remained until 1862. The charter was moved from Amherst College to the nearby University of Massachusetts Amherst, originally called the Gamma Deuteron chapter, and soon taking the name Gamma chapter with its placement at the larger university; this in a nod to the earlier location at Amherst College. The UMass chapter came from the C.S.C. Club, or Campus Shakespeare Club, a property-owning local which had originated in 1879. At its 1955 restoration the chapter absorbed Delta Phi Gamma (local) which had formed in 1952.
- ^ At the 1913 restoration, the chapter absorbed the Union Club (local), which had formed the previous year. At the 1993 restoration, the chapter absorbed the B.O.S.S. Club, which had formed in 1991.
- ^ This chapter originated as the E.O.S. Club, formed in 1907. In 1936 it absorbed the Delta chapter of Phi Pi Phi, formed in 1923, and whose national was disbanding. (This led to a short, precautionary suspension of ΑΣΦ by the NIC due to concern over chapter poaching, but no fault was found and the suspension was rescinded the following year.) In 1946 the chapter absorbed members of the Sigma chapter of Alpha Kappa Pi, at the merger of that fraternity into Alpha Sigma Phi. ΑΚΠ's Sigma chapter had originated from two predecessors: Kappa Zeta Rho (local) had been itself formed out of the Pyramid Club in May 1926 while Lambda Alpha Lambda (local) was formed in November 1926, Both petitioned ΑΚΠ, and their combined petitions were accepted to become that fraternity's Sigma chapter, being installed May 30, 1931.
- ^ This chapter originated as Alpha Omicron (local), which originated prior to 1909.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Atherton Club (local), forming in 1904.
- ^ This chapter originated from the Comedy Club (local), which had formed in 1913.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Sans Souci Club (local), forming in 1908.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Omar Club (local) in 1914. It changed its name in 1915 to Alpha Theta Psi (local), joining ΑΣΦ the following year.
- ^ This chapter originated as Phi Sigma (local), which had formed in 1914.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Alvadado Club (local) in 1915.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Viking Club (local), which formed in 1912. In 1946 it absorbed the Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Pi, a group that had its start as Delta Sigma Chi (local) in 1920, and which became part of ΑΚΠ in 1930. Thus it was a merger participant, joining the existing chapter of ΑΣΦ.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Palisades Club, forming in 1910.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Washington House (local), forming in 1898.
- ^ This chapter originated as the Aztec Club (local), forming in 1913.
- ^ This chapter originated as Delta Kappa Rho (local), forming in 1921.
- ^ This chapter originated as Delta Kappa Gamma (local), forming in 1920.
- ^ This chapter originated as Iota Sigma Delta (local), forming in 1916.
- ^ This chapter originated as a group also called Alpha Sigma Phi (local?), forming in 1912.
- ^ This chapter originated as Kappa Theta (local), forming in 1920.
- ^ This chapter originated as Tau Nu Lambda (local), forming in 1924.
- ^ This chapter originated as Sigma Alpha (local), forming in 1925.
- ^ This chapter originated as Chi Alpha Chi (local), forming in 1925.
- ^ This chapter originated as Chi Delta Epsilon (local), forming in 1925.
- ^ This chapter originated as Tau Delta Theta (local), forming in 1929.
- ^ This chapter came from the Lambda chapter of Phi Pi Phi, chartered in 1926, which merged with ΑΣΦ in 1939. Previously, the organization began on the Case Institute campus as Mu Sigma (local) in 1909. That local was renamed as Tau Delta Tau (local) in 1919.
- ^ This chapter came from the Mu chapter of Phi Pi Phi, chartered in 1926, which merged with ΑΣΦ in 1939. Previously, the organization began as Gamma Lambda Sigma (local) on the Baldwin Wallace campus in 1915.
- ^ This chapter came from the Nu chapter of Phi Pi Phi, chartered in 1927, which merged with ΑΣΦ in 1939. Previously, the organization began as the Crescent Club (local) on the Westminster campus in 1906.
- ^ This chapter came from the Gamma chapter of Phi Pi Phi, chartered in 1923, which merged with ΑΣΦ in 1939. Previously, the organization began as Beta Phi (local) on the Illinois Institute campus in 1913.
- ^ This chapter came from the Pi chapter of Phi Pi Phi, chartered in 1930, which merged with ΑΣΦ in 1939. Previously, the organization began as the Euphemian Club (local) on the Purdue campus in 1926.
- ^ This chapter originated as Alpha Delta Kappa (local), which had formed in 1927 under the earlier name of the Tri-C Club.
- ^ This chapter came from the Alpha chapter of Alpha Kappa Pi, a founding chapter of that fraternity in 1926, which merged with ΑΣΦ on September 6, 1946. Previously, the organization began as Phi Delta Zeta (local) on the NJIT campus on January 1, 1921.
- ^ This chapter came from the Beta chapter of Alpha Kappa Pi, a founding chapter of that fraternity in 1926, which merged with ΑΣΦ on September 6, 1946. Previously, the organization began as Alpha Kappa Pi (local) on the Wagner campus in 1923.
