List of political parties in Thailand

Political parties in Thailand lists political parties in Thailand. Thailand has a multi-party system. Prior to the 2001 general elections, the first elections held under the "People's Constitution" of 1997, all civilian governments were coalition governments. However, in the General Election of 2005, the Thai Rak Thai Party had secured 377 seats of 500 in the lower house, and became the first "one party government" in the history of Thailand.

• Thais United National Development Party (Phak Ruam Jai Thai Chat Pattana), (founded in 2007)
• Neutral Democratic Party (Phak Matchima), (founded in 2006)
• For the Motherland Party (Phak Pua Paendin), (founded in 2007)

Historic

• Communist Party of Thailand, (existed from 1942 to the 1980s)
• Social Action Party, (existed from 1974 to 2003)
• Liberal Democratic Party - merged into Thai Rak Thai in 1998
• Thai Rak Thai Party (Phak Thai Rak Thai) - dissolved on 30 May 2007 for violating electoral laws
• Both of the following parties merged into Thais United National Development Party (Phak Ruam Jai Thai Chat Pattana) in 2007:
  • National Development Party (Phak Chat Pattana), (existed in 2007)
  • Thais United (Ruam Jai Thai), (existed in 2007)
