Leopard Capital LP was founded in 2007 by Douglas Clayton [1] to manage investment funds in Asia's frontier markets. The firm is a Cayman Islands limited partnership with offices in Hong Kong, Phnom Penh and Colombo.
Investment Strategy
Leopard Capital’s private equity funds provide venture or expansion capital to businesses operating in underdeveloped economies. The investment strategy targets segment leaders in basic industries such as financial services, consumer goods, and utilities. To add value to its portfolio, Leopard Capital works closely with its investee companies on strategic and operational issues.[2].
Investment Funds
- Leopard Cambodia Fund LP was launched in April 2008 as the first private equity fund to target Cambodia.[3]. The fund raised over $34 million during the Global Financial Crisis and has subsequently made six investments.[4]
- Leopard Sri Lanka Fund LP is expected to be launched in early 2011 as one of the first private equity funds focused on emerging opportunities in post-war Sri Lanka. The Fund will be advised by renowned contrarian investment gurus Marc Faber and Jim Rogers,[5] and retired US Senator Larry Pressler.
