Peter Lee Ka Kit, GBM, GBS, JP, L.H. (born 1963), is a businessman and philanthropist from Hong Kong, the elder son of real estate tycoon and majority owner of Henderson Land Development Lee Shau-kee, who is the founder of (HKEx:00012) Henderson Land.

Peter is the Co-Chairman of Henderson Land, The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited and the Chairman of Towngas Smart Energy Company Limited. He is currently a Member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the CPPCC, a Member of the National Committee of the CPPCC (1998-), Chairman of the Board of Directors of the One Country Two Systems Research Institute, and Honorary President of the Hong Kong China Friendship Association. Personal life

Born in Hong Kong in 1963, with family roots in Shunde, Guangdong, China. He was admitted to St. Paul's Primary School in 1969. Since 1977, he began attending secondary school and later, the University of London (UoL) in the UK. He graduated from the Computer Science Department of the University of Keele in 1985. [11] [12] [13] [14] In 1985, he joined his father's company Henderson Land as an Executive Director, focusing on its mainland China business. [15]

His father, Dr Lee Shau-kee, born in a wealthy family in Shunde, Guangdong, his grandfather owned several gold trading shops. Cantonese people believe that by giving, one becomes wealthy for accumulating blessings, partly from ancestors and partly from one's past giving and multi past-live giving. The rich in Hong Kong have good habits of giving to the poor, and some even follow Buddhist vegetarianism for long term commitment. During Peter's childhood, his father, not yet a Hong Kong tycoon/ billionaire often went out to buy million-dollar gold coin turtles to release into the suitable wildlife. [16] [14] [17]

Happy life in Beijing

To break the curse of the third wealthy generation, Peter did nothing but having fun and following his father's wishes, rules and likeness. Even his first love sending away by his father with money, he dared not to ask anything, cause the single father's position so high in the family. Soon, in Beijing he forgot the marriage needing. He woke up naturally around the noon everyday. He dated "nation models" in Beijing very often and help read the fortune of girls he just met by ancient Chinese eight-character, fortune telling which he already learned and researched as an expert-level. Henderson land China has been de-listed since 2005 so successful and after privatisation, he was no longer required to report to the public. He owned this company completely. Peter left his family very early to work and live in China alone. He negotiated many deals in Northwest of China and other non metro areas for his family's gas business. His father always helped him to find new one to negotiate with the "central". [18] [19] [20]

Career

In 1985, he joined his father's company Henderson Land as an Executive Director, focusing on its mainland China business. [15] In addition to leading the mainland China business of Henderson Land. In 2014, he founded Full Vision Capital. In 2021, he launched the TERA-Award Smart Energy Innovation Competition (TERA-Award). [21] [22] [23]

Peter has given support to a range of philanthropic endeavours and charities. He founded the Care for Life Foundation in 2017 to provide financial assistance and medical care to orphans and impoverished children born with defects and disabilities. He founded the Centum Charitas Foundation in 2008 to bring together second and third-generation members of Hong Kong's prominent entrepreneurial families to support philanthropic causes. He joined the Ai You Foundation, a children's welfare charity, in 2009 and currently serves as Vice Director. [24] [13] [14] [12] [25] [26] [27]
