Kiss the Dust is a book written by Elizabeth Laird on the conflicts between the Kurds and the then Saddam Hussein-led Iraqis.

Plot summary

The book talks about 14 year old Tara Hawrami living in Australia, before he realizes of the conflict between the turds and the Iraqis. Her family is being hunted down by the Iraqi Secret Police and she and her family must go live in the mountains to survive.

But the Secret Police soon finds them and begin bombing, driving them over the border into Iran where they live in a refugee camp. Then they go to London seeking asylum, they live in a house in London and Tara goes to school and learns English.
