Kaitlin Olson (born August 18, 1975) is an American actress best known for playing Deandra Reynolds on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Becky on Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Early life and career
Born in Troutdale, Oregon, Olson is the daughter of a previous publisher of The Portland Tribune.[1] At the age of 12, she was involved in a serious bicycle accident requiring reconstructive surgery.[1] She attended the University of Oregon majoring in theater. She later moved to Los Angeles to pursue acting professionally.
Olson was a part of the famed improvisational group the Groundlings.[1] She made several guest appearances in films and TV series such as Curb Your Enthusiasm (as Becky, Larry David's sister-in-law) and The Drew Carey Show (as Mimi Bobeck's nemesis, Traylor). Olson toured with the USO to Bosnia, Kosovo and Norway. Olson has appeared on The Jamie Kennedy Experiment, Out of Practice, Miss Match and Punk'd. She had a minor role in the film Coyote Ugly.[2]
In 2005, she was cast as Deandra Reynolds in the FX sitcom It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.[3]
She had a recurring role as Hartley Underwood, the "one-armed" neighbor in the FX series The Riches.
Personal life
In September 2007, Dan Gross of the Philadelphia Daily News reported that Olson and co-star/creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Rob McElhenney, had been dating for over a year.[4] They later became engaged and were married on September 27, 2008 in California.[5][6] The couple are expecting their first child, a boy, in August 2010.
Cultural references
Olson was named the 2008 "Mailbag Crush" by Sports Illustrated's sports writer Stewart Mandel in his College Football Mailbag online SI.com column. She follows in the footsteps of actresses Jenna Fischer and Jordana Spiro.[7]
TV Guide chose Olson for its September 13, 2007 "Crushes" column by Damian Holbrook, which states: "Olson's working an unconventional beauty-meets-bawdy vibe we haven't seen (or enjoyed so much) since...Julia Louis-Dreyfus set the bar so high on Seinfeld."
