Jimmy Kébé (born 19 January 1984 in Vitry-sur-Seine) is a France-born Malian football winger. He currently plays for Reading in the Npower Championship. His fellow Reading teammates have labelled him as "lightning quick, elegant and tall" and "positive and very fast."^[1]

Club career

Reading

On 16 January 2008, Kébé agreed to join Reading, but his then club US Boulogne initially refused to let him end his season-long loan early.^[2] On 28 January 2008, Reading announced that Kébé had signed a 2½ year contract with them, moving for an undisclosed fee.^[3] He made his debut for Reading as a substitute, coming on for John Oster late into a 1-0 away defeat to Everton on 9 February 2008.^[4] He scored his first Reading goal in the 1-2 home defeat against Southampton on the 22nd of November 2008.^[5] On the 6th of December 2008 he got sent off for the first time in his Reading career for aiming an elbow towards Barnsley defender Dennis Souza.^[6]

Kébé recently won player of the month for the month of February 2010 as voted for by the fans of Reading Football Club.

Having been slated by many Reading fans, Jimmy responded by superbly scoring at the home FA cup tie vs West Brom in 2010, scoring the fastest FA cup proper goal ever in 7 seconds.

Kébé became a cult figure for many Reading fans during the latter half of the 2009/10 campaign as a result of a spectacular turnaround in form leading to Jimmy terrorising defences with his pace and newly found eye for goal. On 21 August 2010, Kebe played his 100th game for Reading, appearing in the 1-1 Championship draw with Nottingham Forest at the Madejski Stadium.

International career

He was part of the Mali team in the 2004 Summer Olympics, which exited in the quarter finals, finishing top of Group A, but losing to Italy in the next round.

Other Work

Jimmy Kebe also recieved great praise for his work on the Millau Viaduct over the River Tarn in France, where he worked as principle structural engineer alongside chief architect, Norman Foster. Jimmy also provided the voice over for the Why Bird, a character on the popular children's television series, Playdays. At Chrismas Jimmy plays the Saxophone outside of the Broad Street Branch of John Lewis in Reading town centre. He can often be heard playing the tune of Playdays to the public. Jimmy is highly regarded among his Reading team mates as being one of few individuals who can actually lick their own elbows, and sneeze with their eyes open.
