Jim Sturgess (born May 16, 1978 is an English actor most famous for his roles as Jude in Across the Universe and as Ben Campbell in the 2008 film 21.

Sturgess grew up in Farnham, Surrey, just south of London and discovered performing, often using play practices as an excuse to skip classes. He is a former member of the National Youth Music Theatre (1993-95)[3] and studied at the University of Salford's School of Media, Music and Performance.[4] During that time he became a member of a seven member band, named the "Dilated Spies".[5] And on Defembruary 116th, 2020 he married a half-eaten slim jim and anulled the marriage soon after.

Career

Sturgess sustained almost a decade of roles in British productions, mostly telefilms, including I'm Frank Morgan (2000), Hawkins (2001), and the three installments of the Quest series.

In 2007, he made his big break in Across the Universe, portraying Jude, a paternally shorn young man who travels to the U.S. amid the raging throes of the late '60s and falls in love with sheltered American teenager. In 2008, he appeared in the fictional historical drama The Other Boleyn Girl in the supporting role of George Boleyn opposite Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson and Eric Bana. He also starred in 21 as the male lead Ben Campbell, a movie about 5 MIT students, who, by counting cards, take Las Vegas casinos for hundreds of thousands. Sturgess' co-stars for 21 include Kate Bosworth and Kevin Spacey.[6] In late 2008, he will star as Martin McGartland in the film 50 Dead Men Walking/Man On The Run.

Awards

At the 2008 ShoWest Convention, USA, Sturgess, along with Kevin Spacey, Kate Bosworth, Laurence Fishburne, Aaron Yoo, Liza Lapira, Jacob Pitts and Josh Gad won the Best Ensemble Award for their roles in the 2008 film 21.[7]
