Jhanwar is a village and a newly made tehsil in the Jodhpur district of Rajasthan, India.This village was settled by Chaudhary Malji Kalirana around 1200 AD.
Overview
[edit]The Gotra of most of the Jats in this village is Kalirana (Kaliraman/Kalirawana). Jhanwar is also called the city of justice because Kalirana Jats here were famous for justice. Chaudhary Durgaram Kalirana's justice is very famous. There are some houses of Jats like Jakhar, Thori, Mundan etc. in the village. People of Patel community are also in large numbers in the village. There is also a temple of Veer Tejaji in the village. Jhanwar is 20 km from Jodhpur, 8 km from Boranada Industrial Area. Jhanwar is an agriculture based village. Jhanwar has five revenue villages namely Jhanwar, Nimbali, Dhana Vishnoiya, Delumba, Dand etc. Major communities are as follows: Rajput, Jat, Patel, Brahmin, Soni, Vaishnav, Luhar, Solanki, Rajpurohit, Potter, Darzi, Mochi, Meghwal, Bhil, Harijan, Nath, Baniya etc. There is a higher secondary school in the village. Jhanwar is a gram panchayat which comes under Dhawa Panchayat Samiti. Tehsil headquarters is also in Jhanwar. Sarpanch of Jhanwar Gram Panchayat is Mr. Bhanwarlal ji Patel and Deputy Sarpanch is Mr. Manohar ji Meghwal. Jhanwar is a huge plot of land. According to Census 2011 information the place code or village code of Jhanwar village is 085562. Jhanwar village is located in Luni tehsil of Jodhpur district in Rajasthan, India. It is located 33 km from sub-district headquarters Luni (Tehsildar office) and 29 km from district headquarters Jodhpur.

[edit]As per Population Census 2011, Jhanwar has population of 5648 of which 2916 are males and 2732 are females. The population of children within the age 0-6 is 939 which makes up 16.63 % of the village's total population. Average Sex Ratio of Jhanwar is 937. Child Sex Ratio for the Jhanwar is 859.[1]
