International University of Struga (Macedonian: Меѓународен Универзитет Струга, Albanian:Universiteti Ndërkombetar i Strugës) is a university in the Republic of Macedonia. The university has two campuses based in Struga and Gostivar with roughly 2,500 students. The International University of Struga has four faculties: Faculty of Economy and Business, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Political Science and Information Technology.

University Timeline

Enthusiasm and desire to contribute in the development of Higher Education is the only motive that lead in the formation of Euro College - Struga. The first academic steps began with sincerity, we chose more difficult pathway but we think deeply and long lasting and we intend to build a Higher Educational institution which would be in step with the world standards, an institution which will provide quality teaching with highly qualified academic staff and which will contribute to develop the scientific research labor. Motivated by the support of many domestic and foreign institutions, IUS continues to step regardless the difficulties because our mission and vision is clear. We are also supported by the British University , "Kensington College of Business," the renowned New grade group, the research center European Business Competence License (EBCL), British Business Group, whose task is studying the specific industrial standards and of a huge importance is the fully support from the "American Heritage University” and College of London - "London City College". We would like to express fully gratefulness to all ambassadors, eminent personalities and institutions who visited our campus and supported us in our work. In academic 2007/2008 year we started as Euro College with three faculties, and in 2008 won accreditation by the Ministry of Education and Science in the Republic of Macedonia for two new institutes, the Institute of Europeanism and International Policy and the Institute for Economic Development and Ecological Management, which was the reason for re branding the name into "International University of Struga”.

Mission

International University of Struga is a highly qualified University which is fully devoted to the education and success of its students. International University of Struga throughout its undergraduate and postgraduate studies in the field of marketing and financial management, diplomacy and international relations, information technology, law sciences, English language and communicative sciences, offers a possibility for stimulating intellectual curiosity, rational thinking, introducing of wide spectrum of scientific disciplines and professional fields. International University of Struga owes the possibility to work and help the students by using creative strategies, the latest up graded technology, using new teaching methods and practicing the theoretical knowledge in everyday life. Our students are sample for multicultural existence and work, an example of how to bind different cultures and how to respect and treat them. International University of Struga is committed to global progress, prosperity, diversification, social responsibility and local functioning. Its work is directed to create an ambient, in which the students and the staff will be able to improve and develop their intellectual and professional skills.

Vision

The academic and administration staff and students of International University of Struga are committed to achieving certain goals in order to rank the University in the group of high educational institutions of South-East Europe. The University aims to maintain friendly relations with students by its integrated system of teaching, mentoring and of scientific research. The International University of Struga is completely dedicated to education of its students in undergraduate studies as well as in post graduate studies. International University of Struga is a modern educational institution which is characterized with intellectual and cultural diversity and its main goal is to contribute into the regional development as well as to become a place where each student will be able to accomplish his/her desires and ambitions for development and progress. The University aims to provide basic knowledge, work habits and learning skills to its graduated students which are necessary for achieving not only individual but also social progress and development of the place where they live and work in.

Collaboration

American Heritage University

American Heritage University, founded in 2003, is an approved private, independent, institution of higher learning offering quality degree programs from the School of Law; the School of Business; the Department of Criminal Justice and Public Policy and the Certified Nursing Assistant Program, based on traditional and non-traditional modes of instruction.

London City College

LCC is a truly international college, recognized by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further & Higher Education (BAC). The College was founded in 1982.

Schiller International University

Schiller International University is a private American university with seven campuses in six countries. Campuses are located in London, England; Paris and Strasbourg, France; Madrid, Spain; Heidelberg, Germany; Leysin, Switzerland; and Largo, Florida. SIU offers Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's degrees in a number of areas. Founded in 1964 by Dr. Walter Leibrecht as a study abroad program for Americans in Germany, it now provides undergraduate and graduate education to students from over 100 countries. Most Schiller campuses are in or near major cities offering abundant cultural opportunities in which students are actively encouraged to participate. The University is unique in that it gives students the opportunity to transfer from one campus to another, from one country to another, while remaining in the same university without loss of time or credit.

University Of Tirana

It was the first university in Albania when it was founded in October 1957 as State University of Tirana by joining together five existing institutes of higher education. The number of students attending this university is over 14,000 and the number of teaching staff is over 600. The Rector is Dhori Kule (from 2008).

Fama University in Kosovo

International University of Struga has signed cooperation memorandum with Fama University in Kosovo. This cooperation provides support for the joint development of education and science.

New York University-Skopje

International University in Struga has signed agreements for cooperation with New York University-Skopje. This collaboration provides mutual support for improving the quality of education and science through:

Faculty of Information Technology at both universities has the same mission and vision and for this reason students from both universities receive identical diplomas. Joint projects of the student union activities, Participation and organization of joint seminars, public tribunes, scientific conferences and similar.

University in Sarajevo

Struga International-University has signed cooperation memorandum with the University in Sarajevo. This collaboration provides mutual support for the development of education and science. University in Sarajevo has donated and enriched the library of the International University of Struga with many titles in the field of legal and political sciences.

"Gjilan College” -Kosovo

International University in Struga has signed cooperation memorandum with the "Gjilan College” in Kosovo. This memorandum provides cooperation and mutual development, exchange of staff and exchange of students, the memorandum also foresees the mutual exchange of literature and scientific research

ADA - Albanian Diplomatic Academy

International University in Struga has signed cooperation agreements with the Albanian Diplomatic Academy (ADA). This applies to mention the fact that between the two institutions exists an excellent cooperation and support in every aspect. Students studying at the International University of Struga have opportunities for training and professional preparation by diplomats as the excellent PhD. Lisen Bashkurti, PhD. Bashkim Rama and and other respected diplomats as well as ambassadors. The opportunities for training are forall students ofthe International University of Struga and at the end of the training they win a certificate whichisvalid for further development of their professional career.

Mediterranean University of Albania

International University of Struga has signed cooperation agreement with Mediterranean University seated in Tirana, Albania. Mediterranean University of Albania consists of three faculties:the faculty of Political Sciences,the faculty of International Relations and Diplomacy, and the faculty of Economics.Within the University function three scientific Institutes in the three fields. The two Universities collaborate in the field of undergraduate studies, postgraduate studies and doctoral dissertation, by exchanging professors, academic staff, students, organizing mutual activities based on a “Mobility Plan” in accordance with the ICTS Bologna system and the law legislation of the two countries.

Academy of science of Republic of Albania

International University of Struga has signed an agreement for partnership with Academy of science of Republic of Albania seated in Tirana. The Academy of science is the most important scientific research center in Republic of Albania.Inter-institutional agreement negotiated by the Academy of science of Republic of Albania and International University of Struga consist of International collaboration, exchange of academic staff, scientific research labor, as well as many other projects of the field of science.

Ministry of Education and Science

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia has a social responsibility to provide conditions for development of education and opportunities for improvement of citizens’ wellbeing. The effects of the activities undertaken by the Ministry are strong and lasting and directly influence the life of every citizen. The conditions and possibilities for prevention and compensation that the Ministry creates in the field of education and training, research, development, and affirmation of cultural values are of essential importance for life choices of both youth and adults.

The British Business Group exists to facilitate trade links between Great Britain and Macedonia and actsas a voice for good business practices and the introduction of industrial specific standards.

EBC*L

International University of Struga is an accredited EBC*L exam center. EBC*L is wide established business qualification certificate attesting the holder the core competence needed to: take part in economic life; be able to run a department and make managerial decisions; control and manage the financial aspects of a project; start up a new business.

Kensington College of Business

International University of Struga is an affiliate college of Kensington College of Business and is competent to offer their study programs. KCB is an official partner of the University of Glamorgan and as a renowned institution has been operating in the educational system of UK for the last 25 years. Several government and professional bodies like NFCE, ICSA, CIM and AIHEP have accredited the college.
