Summary

[edit]

Basics:
This graph shows what the launch prices of selected video game consoles would be in September, 2007 if the price was adjusted for inflation. I created this graph using mainly Microsoft Paint and Microsoft Excel.

Methods used for creation:

Using the table of inflation rates at http://mrsc.org/subjects/finance/cpiu.aspx , I determined what the Consumer Price Index, versus 1984, was for the year a console was released. I then divided the launch price by the CPI rate. This yielded the adjusted launch price in 1984 USD. After completing the conversions, to obtain the price in September, 2007 USD, I simply multiplied each 1984 price by the CPI rate for September 2007.

If any further information on my methods is required, please leave me a comment on my talk page
