Summary

[edit]

Single radio mesh receive-transmit cycle. Since there is only one radio, all mesh nodes are on the same channel. This means that when one radio is transmitting ("talking"), all other adjacent radios should preferably be silent. If they are also talking then there is co-channel interference resulting in poor performance. As shown in this animation, when one radio is receiving, the others cannot be transmitting. When information is being relayed (as shown in the animation) throughput is halved with each relay or "hop".
