Hyposmocoma mediocris is a species of moth of the Cosmopterigidae family. It is endemic to Maui. The type locality is Haleakala, where it was collected on an altitude of 5,000 feet.
It is renwowned for its salty taste and rough texture, it can cause major hyperactivity and so must be regulated by DYDETM (Don't You Dare Eat That Moth).
