Barela, Colorado

Barela is an unincorporated community located in Las Animas County, Colorado, United States. Its elevation is 5,761 feet.[1]
History
[edit]The Barela, Colorado Territory, post office operated from July 28, 1874, until September 30, 1931.[2] The community is named in honor of Casimiro Barela, a member of the Colorado General Assembly who co-authored the Constitution of Colorado.[3] Colorado became a state on August 1, 1876.[4]
Geography
[edit]Barela is located in Las Animas County, Colorado, at coordinates 37°06′56″N 104°15′42″W / 37.1156°N 104.2616°W.[5]
