Gaur Gopal Das (IAST: Gaura-Gopāla dāsa; born 24 December 1973) is an Indian Internet celebrity, monk, motivational speaker and former electrical engineer. He is a member of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).[1]

Early life and education

Gaur Gopal Das was born in Vambori town in Ahmadnagar District, Maharashtra, India. He has a diploma in electrical engineering from Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, Pune and a degree from College of Engineering, Pune.[2]

Career

He worked as an electrical engineer at Hewlett Packard for a brief period, before leaving the company in 1996 to become a monk.[3]

After a few years, he left his job and joined the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as a monk, where he was given the name "Gaur Gopal Das".[4][5] He has remained there for twenty-two years, learning ancient philosophy and contemporary psychology, to become a life coach.[6]

Ever since then he has been speaking at various academic institutions and corporate firms in India and abroad for over 2 decades and has even spoken at the United Nations and thrice at British parliament. He has also spoken at many charity events to raise funds for social initiatives in the field of education and rural development.[7]

In 2018, he published the book Life's Amazing Secrets,[8] and received an honorary doctorate by Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT).[9] He collectively has over 17mn followers across social media.[10]

In February 2023, Gaur Gopal Das received Asia's prestigious "Golden Book Awards" for his work - "Energize Your Mind: A Monk's Guide to Mindful Living".[12][13]
