Accuracy of the file

[edit]

I would like to bring into notice that this pie chart may be inaccurate. This is because, the total of the percentage values of usage is equal to 99.69, which should be actually 100. I would be grateful if the author of this file could correct this problem.219.64.74.171 (talk) 12:29, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because the way the chart is made, this is unnecessary. The percentages are always normalized to 100% in the creation of the chart, so if I were to alter the chart it would make no change to the appearance. And the chart is made from the median values, even "other"; so unless those values change there's no need to update the chart. Also I try not to update the chart more frequently than monthly. The median value for MSIE is 58.69, but in the R code it is 59.69. The total is now 101.7 (according to the R code)(as of the January 2010 chart). Please update the pie chart too, as per the new data.59.88.141.213 (talk) 17:11, 5 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Type of chart should be pie chart

[edit]

I believe a pie chart serves the purpose of this image best. The idea is to show relative shares of the market, with the maximum always being 100%. Bar charts are better for situations where you want to compare absolute figures, but this image is not about who's first or who's closest to 100. Therefore, bar charts are inadequate here. I plead for the use of pie charts. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TobyDZ (talkcontribs) 04:49, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

In July 2010, User:Protonk decided to change it from a pie chart to a bar graph because of some article he had read (look in the history). I personally see no reason to have done this, and agree that a pie chart would have been better. i'll look in to the code and see how much work it is to change it back, or if there's someone with svg experience i think it should get changed. -TinGrin 03:42, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
