@JonP125: Is it worth potentially moving this picture to commons? It seems that the provenance is kind of shaky, but assuming that this is a picture of Snell in his ball-playing days (and not something weird like an older Snell dressing up in his old baseball costume in 1927 or later), the picture is from 1913. "Publication" date is unclear, but even if it was somehow only published much later, I doubt the copyright was renewed under the old rules. It seems awkward when there's so much unknown, but it does seem like there's a 99.9999% chance this should be public domain as an old anonymous work, which is probably enough to go to Commons and deal with the unlikely case of a copyright claimer if it comes up. @SnowFire: I agree it should probably go to Commons. JonP125 (talk) 08:32, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Wally Snell was my great-grandfather. This photo is in my father's (Wally Snell's grandson) personal collection. If you'd like specific information on the provenance of the photo, I will be happy to put you in touch with my father, who can also provide you with more biographical information about his life and work. You can reach me at karen.e.cohen at gmail dot com if you would like my father's name and contact information.
I hope this helps,
