File talk:The last mile hierarchy.svg
Appearance
Very poor illustration
[edit]This diagram does a very poor job illustrating what it is supposed to illustrate; last mile distribution networks.
- In the first place the drawing is not topologically a tree, the shape of distribution networks; multiple "branches" are not shown originating from a single "trunk". All the branches at each level are shown connected together. The drawing resembles a comb. This is going to be confusing for general readers.
- In the second place the label "Locally shared costs" is going to be confusing. The costs of the "last mile" links in a distribution network like a water supply system, cable television system or telephone network are not typically "shared" with the customer but borne by the owner of the network.
- In the third place, the mixture of manmade and natural networks in the examples is going to be confusing. Talk of "costs" does not apply to natural networks.
I'd suggest completely redoing this drawing. --ChetvornoTALK 04:14, 20 June 2018 (UTC)
