Fair use claimed?

[edit]

Is this really fair use? It seems absurd to me to assert so. Reason #2 just means it is appropriate to a subject and has no bearing on fair use. Reason #3 means it was popular and poignant, and that has no impact on fair use. Reason #4 is very hard to justify; web resolution [i]is[/i] publication, and competes directly with print media. -- Mikeblas 00:28, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • agreed. this is very much not Fair Use. Sparr 05:05, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've marked the page with the imagevio template. Hopefully, this is the correct way to handle the issue; the project pages don't offer such clear instructions, even after you've spent your morning trying to find the right template, project page, and so on. -- Mikeblas 14:46, 18 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
      • The tag was removed without explanation, so I've replaced it. The edit simply said that it was "determined" to be fair use, and I simply can't see how that's possible. "Fair use" for the image is not to illustrate text of anything else; it's to critique or analyse the image, something the article claiming fair use does not do. -- Mikeblas 17:05, 26 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
